Hi,
I have an Officers Target 6-inch, SN 6030XX (below that there's 030 and below that a D).

Blue is rough, most of the blueing is worn off the sides of the barrel. Cyl and frame probably 50-60%. There is a number roughly scratched into the right side plate, probably by a police dept armorer, IMO. (unconfirmed history from previous owner suggests it was actually used in police target matches). The grips that came with it are some horrible black plastic thumbrest target grips with flowers engraved in them:banghead: .

It currently wears black rubber pachmayrs. I'm looking for some wood python style or original style. Or stag. Can you get stag anymore?

Can someone tell me when it was made, and an approximate value?

It's unusual to find a target revolver in such rough shape.

Yours was made about 1937. Given the condition of the finish (30-40% overall) the value will depend more on mechanical condition- I'd not pay more than $200 for a revolver like you describe- the value of the parts may exceed the value of the revolver (except as a shooter).

The black plastic grips might be Murad's. For bullseye style shooting they may be more functional than any of the Python style stocks or your Pachmayrs.

Eagle Grips (http://www.eaglegrips.com/) may be able to provide Stag stocks.

Thank you.

I'm actually glad to hear the value is not great... I'll feel better about having it reblued.;)

Smoothest double-action trigger I've ever tried.

Not many people give these guns the respect they deserve - it's basically a 38Spl Python.

The 22LR version is rare and said to be unbelievably accurate, possibly the finest DA 22LR ever made...

Yep, I absolutely love shooting it.

One more question... anyone know where I can get a rear sight blade for it? I tried numrich to no avail.

Note that the Officers Target is NOT the Officers Match (which has a different front sight and an adjustable rear.

The Target (which mine is) has a windage-adjustable rear only; it's a sliding blade secured to the frame with a vertical screw. Mine works fine but the top right corner has a gouge out of it.
