The spring from a Springfield XD .45 Tactical will fly almost exactly 17 feet if you aren't careful. There has to be somebody tracking this sort of info....Maybe there's a 9mm vs .45 contest here?:neener: :D

I detailed stripped my G19 slide a week before a pistol class. The extractor spring shot out and landed on the chandoleer. I looked for it for almost 30 minutes on the ground before looking at the light above the dinner table and there it was. I thought I was going to have to have one sent to me ASAP.

I shot the recoil spring on my old Super 38 Colt 1911 accross the room and down the hall when I was cleaning it before I sold it the next morning, and couldn't find it, even after I looked for hours. I finally put the gun back together without it, figuring I could probably knock 5 bucks off the price. I then walked down the hall to go to bed, and there it was, on the floor inside on the bathroom floor. I spent two hours plus looking for it, and all I would have had to do was have to use the bathroom, and I would have found it.

These days, it probably wouldn't have happened, I visit the bathroom way too often!
