I have to say it was alot of fun. I learned a whole lot and the insturctors were top notch. Probably the best 30 bucks I have ever spent.
It was a little wierd running the targets and hearing bullets cracking as they whized by though. I was also amazed at the kids that were there. They were all well mannerd and polite, and most better shots then me:D (although that isn't hard to do).
It was a blast can't wait for tommorow when I get to shoot a match:D I however am not looking forward to the offhand part:(

Peetmoss,
Don't let standing rattle you. I've been doing CMP competition for a couple of years now, and standing always tough - for everyone.
Just relax, mount the rifle the same way every time, check your NPA often (close your eyes, relax and see where the front sight is when you open your eyes - move your right foot forward or back to adjust for left and right), and make clean trigger breaks with good follow-through.
It's simple !
Best of luck tomorrow !

Edited to add -
Be sure to wear eye protection in the pits - sometimes during shooting someone will hit a spotter, or a 2X4 holding up the targets, and "stuff" will fly all over the place. If you have a berm behind the targets, watch there for impacts, don't look up at the target if you can help it !

Well just got back from shooting the match . I did OK except in the aweful hand:D I shot a 266 out of 400 with 2 bulls. There were only two people that had 300 or better. Top shooter was a 14yr kid who shot a 355. But I was in the top 1/3 or the class.
This is what I did
200 off hand M,5,M,M,X,10,8,8,M,9
200 rapid sitting 10,9,9,9,7,7,7,6,6,M
300 rapid prone 10,6,M,8,7,9,7,8,9,10
300 slow prone X,10,9,9,9,9,8,8,M,M
This was with a match AR-15 shooting Wolf 62gr. I did not understand there selection of ammo. Yesterday we shot M193 ball ammo for practice, today Wolf ACK. If I would have know that I would have brought my own ammo. Also for some reason they had me shoot someones personal AR and they didn't want me to adjust the sights.
And yes I did were my shooting glasses in the pits and tried my hardest to watch the berm. Every once in awhile I would miss a shot though. Probably because they had us eating lunch while we worked the targets in the pits.
And Welcome to The HighRoad MissedAgain
