Does some company make cheap ie practice ammo in this caliber that is not flattened at the tip but is more round like a 40s&w hollow point? My HK40s&w compact does not like the flat tip round, doesnt feed right but it spits out the HPs all day.

I've never really seen true ball .40 SW ammo. Just about everything I've seen very closely resembles available hollowpoints as far as the bullet profile goes. I think if you are confident that your gun is fully broken in, and still doesn't work with FMJ loads from reputable major manufacturers (PMC, Winchester, Remington, Federal, etc), you should send it back to the factory and have them fix it. These things cost far too much money to not be 100% reliable with quality loads. About the most inexpensive, quality factory loads I've tried has been PMC. I've heard S&B was also good, but bring a magnet along. If they're using steel cases (and they were doing this with the .40s), buy something else. Steel cases pose too much of a risk to the extractor. Maybe not right away, but you can bet it accelerates wear.

I got the same handgun... I have shot many brands of ammo... it don't matter... you got to get this functioning better than what it sounds like.
All .40 S&W ammo is made that way... that's what makes it feed properly... I called Hornady about this very thing and that's what they told me.
btw how many malfunctions are you getting?
it may be a mag problem as well
But call H&K to get an RA# 703-450-1900... I have and things got better :)
