I just bought 500 new Laupa 308 cases, and was wondering if I should at least neck size them before loading. They all look to have undented case mouths, and I know from reading on this site, that Laupa makes very consistant brass, the question is, how consistant? Thanks!

Go ahead and at least neck size, and preferably full length size the cases. Otherwise you may be disappointed in just how inconsistent the cases are after live fire testing (accuracy).

Just prime them and load them. I did that with my 1000 yard Palma loads and they shot great. Wish I bought a ton of the brass when I could buy it for $30/100 a few years ago. I have some with 10 loadings and still going strong. No case mouth splits, case head expansion or excessive brass flow, only had to trim once.

I never size or trim new brass. I do chamfer the mouths of new straight wall cases to make seating bullets easier.

Size them first, it won't hurt anything. If the necks get out of round from shipping, you will have some bullet seating issues if you don't resize- ask me how I know:rolleyes:

If I load it, it gets sized first! Just guarantees consistency of case pressure against bullet and contributes to more consistent ammunition performance. YMMV

Yeah, I just load new Lapua brass..

You could send them to me--I'll size, trim, chamfer, deburr, uniform the primer pockets then do a couple test firings on them and send them right back to you! I normally charge up front for this service, but maybe I could work out some sort of deal for you...

No matter who makes it, new brass should be checked for length, have the case mouths chamfered and full length resized. Then you know, for sure, it's consistent.
