New Ammo Was Crushed!

I've put thousands of rounds of the Winchester White Box through my P226 and I'm 100% satisfied.
Except once, as I was loading a mag a few days ago, a round felt kind of weird. I was surprised to see that not only was the shell crushed to 1/2 it original diameter, but the bullet was crushed as well. So I assume it must have been a pretty strong force.
I've never seen this before regardless of manufacturer.
Has anyone else seen this before?
Should I contact the company regarding this defect or does this happen frequently?

From time to time a bad round will end up on your ammo shelf.
I try to look at and feel of each round as I am loading into a magazine or revolver. I have found a couple of rounds a person would not want to shoot. It can happen with any brand. Some companies have better quality control than others, but no manufacturer can claim 100% perfection.

While I have not run across a mutilated cartridge, I have been ridiculed for my overly cautious prep of factory ammo:
I bought a 9mm Case Gage from Dillon and put every round of factory ammo into it before it goes into my magazines...the vast majority drops in and out...however, I have caught FOUR rounds that would not completely fit the gage: three were Winchester and one was Sellier & Bellot. Two of the three "fat" Winchesters were Whitebox 115g FMJ "value pack"and one was the regular
Winchester 124g USA. The S&B was 115g FMJ.
I continue to buy these inexpensive target ammo brands and have saved the oversized ones to prove that I am not "making this stuff up"!
Interestingly, I have yet to come across an oversize cased .38 Special or .357 Magnum....
P.S. I would contact the maker with the appropriate numbers from the batch...they may send you a free box of ammo!
Considering the quantity of ammo that is manufactured, it's not too surprising that we get a "dud" now and then.
