Hello all,
I'm finally mounting a Burris 3-9 on my Mod. 70 STW with .330" rear spacing. The prob. I'm having is that when using the scope mounting kit the tips of steel alignment pins are at least .030" apart in the middle of the rings elevation wise.
Do I lap them from here?? It's the first time I've used the kit, I have turned the rings, swapped locations, turned again and even rotated the mounts w/o affecting the results. With the naked eye and the alignment pins installed the rear pin looks to be going "down hill" in relation to the front pin.

Now what??
Thanks,
Tony

If it is a 2 piece base, you can shim the base that is low.

Lapping rings is always a good idea, but 0.030" is a bit much.

Clymer makes a scope alignment reamer, but it's pricey.

The easiest solution is to use the Burris Signature Rings. They have inserts that will align the scope with the barrel.
