If you have used this let me know how you like it and what it is comparable to. I recently noticed, yesterday as a matter of fact, that one of the powders I use in 223 gives a lot more muzzle flash than the others. If you have noticed, let me know about muzzle flash as well.

I would be interested too. I have several pounds of TAC leftover from when I tried in my bench gun. It will shoot lights out except in humid conditions. N133 is just better in this app. (6PPC). I did not notice any muzzle flash with it in the bench gun but I'm peeking through a 36X Leuopold and would not notice it anyway. Since I gave my Bushmaster AR-15 with its Leupold scope to my nephew I haven't loaded any thing for the .223 except blasting ammo for my Mini-14, but would be interested when it comes time to load him some more ammo. The last ammo I loaded for him was with Varget and H335 with Hornady V-Max bullets.

The AR and a Kimber Tactical Ultra were my gift to him when he got out of the Marines. Proud of the young man.:)
Gave him a few rounds of ammo for a rainy day as well.

He is in the reserves now and is going to Iraq soon. He is looking forward to it. We are, of course, nervous.:uhoh:

I reload BLC-2, H322 and H-335 in the 223 and the 204 Ruger. H-335 is the most accurate but only by a little out of my Savage. I was at the range yesterday and I had loads with both H-335 and BLC-2 with me. At the end of the day I had a few of each left and put them in the same Mag. A friend of mine who was on the bench next to me said that one of the loads had a lot of muzzle flash while the other had virtually none. I believe it was the loads with H-335 that were exhibiting a lot of muzzle flash. I will be checking this out the next time I go. By the way, I was shooting these out of a 16'' AR and a 20" AR, not my Savage.

I have shot a lot of H335 out of my .222 Mag and have not noticed any excessive muzzle flash. It did a bit better than BLC-2 and H4895 for me. It is a 24" barrel though.:)

I have not shot any H335 in my Mini-14. I am shooting SRB-118 (Accurate Arms surplus powder) and it has some pretty good flash from the Mini-14, but who cares, it's cheap blasting loads.

I have fired thousands of rounds using TAC. I have 5 AR's of different configs. 25 grains of TAC driving the 52 grain bullet. 24 grains driving the Hornady 75 grain bthp.

I don't know how it works with lighter bullets, but with 75-77gr it is great.

+1 for 25 grams behind 52 gr. Sierra or Nosler match bullets. My chrome lined mil spec barrel will put 10 of these in an inch. I dig it.:)

24.4 grains behind a 62 grain pill = lots of varmints with sudden-onset terminal lead poisoning :)

I shoot that load out my 24" target AR with 1:9 twist.

I'm still working up loads for my new CZ with the 1:12

Friday March 9, 2007 I tested both ss109 and 55 gr v-max bullet for pressure in stevens model 200 .223.

I loaded 10 shell each in .2 gr increments for both bullets.

I placed lots of florescent targets on main target.

Here's ss109 case heads [with clear tape to hold cases in holder]

Ligest charge to the left.

Similar 55 gr display.

http://www.prosefights.org/funpics/thr/shootingrangepark/55vmax.jpg

All looked [visual] good until the hotest load.

But this was not the case.

Tactile examination of case head from left to right revealed that primers were begining to crater two loads before maximum load tested.

So I've outlined in red max loads for VARGET with 55 gr and ss109 bullets for use in my new steven model 200 .223.

While doing this pressure testing, I was also trying to adjust redfield 4x 'scope to hit target.

After firing the 20 pressure test loads, I switched to 68 gr match Black Hill ammo.

After adjusting the scope at 25 yards with both the test handload and 20 rounds Black Hills ammo, then I moved the target to 50 yards.

First group appeared on target but off center. So I adjusted two marks on scope.

I shot off sand bags. No rear rifle rest. Limbsaver 1000 [less recoil that my bird hunting buddy's savage .223]

Here's my last 5, of 50 shots fired. 1.5 inches inner circle.

Senior citizen, 45 days younger than Saddam and about 6 months older than Jane Fonda, is not displeased.

So I will start at 26.7 and 26.0 gr with about 20 rounds each and DESCEND by .2 gr increment to find best grouping.

Then let's see what happens at 100 yards?
