Has anyone scoped their Ruger Blackhawk?
If so, what did you put on it?
I have an Old Model .357 that I'm toying with the idea of scoping.

Thanks!

I installed a BSquare base on my .30 Carbine and use a red dot. I have alot of trouble with open sights on handguns. It works real well. Tightened up my groups considerably. I can keep both eyes open and seem to have better target acqusition. It is kind of a pain to carry, but wouldn't go back. Best of luck, Steve

I just got my Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter .44 mag last summer. I put a Leupold VXIII on mine. The Hunter is set up with the integral scope rails on the barrel, so it works pretty well.

+1 on the Scoped NMSB 44 Mag Hunter. Have to research on how to post pics. For the life of me I make posting pics hard on myself.

Nice looking rigs there guys!
I was kind of thinking along the lines of a Red Dot as well, although I haven't ruled out glass.
Hope to see more pics!

I also have the Ruger SB Hunter model with a Bisley grip frame and mounted a 4X scope on it. (.44 Mag) I took a 6-point whitetail with it at 65 yards which I certainly would not have tried with iron sights.

Us old guys need all the help we can get!

Violates my sensibilities on a personal level but I agree they sure make it easy to hit with. If you're going to do it to an old model, please use a "No Gunsmith" mount so you don't ruin the topstrap for future owners as they're not making them anymore.

Now those "Hunter" models that come with the cut outs for rings look better with the scope to me so if that's what I wanted I think I'd go that route. Been thinking about a .17 or .22 set up that way for some long range plinking or hunting.

461,
Agreed. I won't do anything to alter the original configuration of the gun (if I do anything at all). My Smiths are all pre drilled and tapped so I may just use one of those and leave the Blackhawk alone.
Thanks!

IDA- plenty of good "No Gunsmith" mounts out there that should hold up fine to a .357 but if you've got guns that are already drilled and tapped they may be better candidates due to a more solid mounting.

Good luck.
