Hannah came home last night and is doing well. She just got her first bath and is resting. I have some baby formula (Remington Golden HP's) for her. I can't wait to take her out for the first time.

Any maintenance tips or upgrades to consider for this model specifically?

Make sure you have the manual handy on the first disassembly/re-assembly or you'll go out of your mind!

+1 that. At some point in the reassembly instructions, the book tells you to turn the gun one way or the other and the hammer will "fall" into the forward position. Mine has never done that. Drove me nuts until I figured out just what the "forward" position looked like, and to use a pencil to push the hammer into position. Once I learned those two things, the rest of easy as long as I followed the directions.

You guys are right. I just spent almost 30 minutes taking my MKIII apart and putting it back. I used a thin, long screwdriver to push the hammer forward all the way. Once you know where the hammer strut needs to rest on the main spring assembly, you're good. Took me a while, and a few internet searches to get it right!

The manual is not very explicit and its illustrations have little detail.

Anyways, I performend mild cleaning of the bore and insides with some CLP and topped everything off with a very light layer of Rem oil.

Nice picture. Hard photo to take given the silver barrel and the black grips.

Thanks. I had plenty of natural light. Oh, also did a little Photoshop work on it too.

Anyone know of a good scope in the $250 range that fits 4-12x40 specs or similar? As long as it ain't too soft around the edges at high power, I'm okay.

You going to put the scope on your rifle? :) :)

I love the fiber optic front sight on mine, like it even more since I swapped the rear blade from my red dot equipped bull barrel 22/45. I didn't like the "V" notch and white vertical line on the rear.

Great shooting gun, I know you'll like it!

Shoot it a while and then look at a VQ trigger and sear upgrade. Will cut the pretravel to almost zilch and will reduce the pull to 2-2.5#.

You might consider adding a red dot.

Good luck with the golden bullets. None of mine seem to like them.

Why a red dot over a scope?
What ammo are you using?

I think I found a good scope that will work.
