And I think I need to do that do it yourself trigger job.

Trying to concentrate on a target 100 yards away, I could easily hear the grinding of the metal as the trigger was pulled since my cheek was on the stock. Though I am amazed I hit the target at all, I actually got the sights adjusted pretty well in the end.

Too much fun, 2 hours flew by. Too bad I had to leave.

Anything wrong with the trigger work listed here? http://www.geocities.com/molonlaberkba/triggerjob.html

Looks simple enough. And now I am for sure going to build a second AR later. Nice, easy to shoot, barely any recoil.

There's also a "how to" trigger job on the EVER USEFUL Maryland AR15 Shooters Site (http://groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/smoothenthetriggerpull.msnw) that addresses your "gritty trigger" experience exactly.

So how about a "retrospective" on your first build? Easy, hard, stuff you'll look out for next time?

Congrats on your success. I've been ordering the goodies to make my first build a TRUE build, rather than building the lower and getting a complete upper as I had originally intended... (barrel wrench and action blocks en route :) ) This decision has been based mostly on reading responses to your previous posts, other similar topics here, and discussions with a couple of members whos' opinions I've learned to trust.

I'm not ready for the whole building the upper experience. I feel better knowing it has been test fired... maybe later I will do one from scratch. Good luck on your true build.

My first build, quite easy, other than the two hard to get in roll pins, had to use a 16 oz hammer. And the pivot pin installation, I should have splurged and got the tool that helps you install it. Other than that, it was pretty straightforward.

Good luck on your true build.
BTW, I hope that didn't come out wrong... I didn't mean to imply yours wasn't a "real" build. Guess I shoulda said "full" build instead :)

FWIW, building the lower from scratch is more than I've done. So again, please share what you've learned, especially with the "pivot pin" and the tool you mentioned.

Again, congrats on completing your project!
