I had a minor car accident Friday, and it has to go to the shop for repairs. I had a $500 deductible on my insurance policy which I have to pay. I'm mad because I could have used that money to buy a gun. Argh. Oh well, at least I don't have to shell out the thousands it would cost to fix the car. But still, $500 bites.

I'm changing my deductible to $250 from now on.

Insurance Co. CHARGES YOU MORE for a lower deductible. You may well piss an add'l. $500/year down the drain w/o having an accident. I can live w/ $500 deductible b/c it's been quite a while since I was involved in an accident that was my fault, mostly a just broken windshield every few years. Poor economics to pay a lot more each year just so you can pay less when something bad actually happens, which ought to be quite infrequently.
