on firequest they sell "flame thrower shells" for 12 gauge. it says it shoots a wall of flame 250 feet. have any of you shot that stuff? now, is it a wall? or a stream of flame?

it's neat, not anything really worth buying more than once.

Sounds like a good way to trash a barrel.

Kind of pointless to use a shotgun for a flamethrower. Bad for barrels if you think about it, and onely really useful if you want to do a drive by arson, start your hibachi, set off bad powder, or dehair a dead pig at butchering time.

Aussie farmers load grass seeds and fire them into the banks of dams during rain in the dryer parts of australia (read most of australia :( ).

My uncle had 3 of these once. They were visually unimpressive. Kinda like shooting a firework...in no way a stream of flame like a flamethrower. A photo of one of these gives the wrong impression because of the exposure time.
They are probably worth the price once...just to get it out of your system so you don't wonder about 'em anymore!;)

I've often wanted one of those "bird bombs" out in the marsh when the ducks weren't moving. The "flame thrower" thing, well, I don't know if it'd even torch dry grass. Depends on the time of burn, I reckon. Magnesium powder flashes pretty quick.

Kinda like shooting a firework...+1. If you live in a place where fireworks are illegael but it is OK to shot a shotgun on your own property, a few of these might be worthwhile (maybe a few bird bomds too.) But real fireworks are cheeper and look/sound better.

sounds like it'd be a great effect for home movies... maybe setting a shed on fire... with a dummy in it

You know, I wonder if these things would fire in a 12 gauge flare pistol, considering the low power and pressure? That could make for a fun thing to play with. :D If you got attacked by a gang, you could singe their hair if nothing else.

Here's a picture of some of this stuff being fired at night; it's more like a cone of very hot sparks.
