Oh...it also looks like there's going to be an ARFCOM shoot at Hite Hollow near Staunton on April 14th.

I live in Ashburn as well. Long range shooting is kind of hard in this area. I think there is a 100 yard range in the area out in Winchester I think. I shoot at the Blue Ridge Arsenal mostly because I have a membership there and it is close. I think the NRA range is better but less convenient. I mostly shoot pistols but I am there quite often.

When I lived in Fairfax before moving back to Indiana last year, I always shot at the NRA range. It's a pretty nice facility and fairly inexpensive. Take a tour of the museum while there.

Norton,

What's an ARFCOM shoot? I drive over to Hite Hollow from Charlottesville to go shooting a good deal. Beautiful place.

The guys from ar15.com get together over at Hite Hollow 2-3 times a year.

If your looking for a place to shoot rifles theres a 200yd range in sleepy creek wv. Not always the cleanest well kept range and sometimes other peoples conduct isn't the greatest. But it's a place to go. It would probably be about 2 hours away from ashburn.

Fellow NOVA high roader, I am in Alexandria.

Give me a PM, I would like to go shooting with you sometime as well. NRA range seems to be the best bet right now.

Live in South Riding now, moving to Bealeton in a couple months.

Blue Ridge Arsenal - Chantilly - really close, convienent but extremely busy since Shooter's Paradise burned down. Can shoot pistol or rifle (ball ammo only) Not the best lighting. Nice if you're a member. (25 yds)

NRA HQ - Fairfax - much nicer range. Well lit, and ventalated. Longer range (50 yds) as well. Staff can be somewhat snotty at times. Reasonable range fees.

Clark Bros - 10 mins south of Warrenton. Outdoor range up to 100yrds. People that shoot there may scare you. Range is free to use, but you can only use their ammo on the range. Obviously, you'll pay a premium on their ammo.

Shooter's Paradise - Woodbridge. Recently burned down, they are going to rebuild, but it'll take some time.

You could also join Isaak Walton League of America. Fairfax Chapter, Loudoun Chapter. I think the Loudoun chapter has a better range. Can say for sure, been years since i've been to either.

Still looking as well. I haven't been to Clark Brothers Range in warrenton yet. The NRA range is good for pistols, and I have sighted in a reddot on my AR there, but I am looking for a 100-300 yard range as well.

I don't know of anything else in the area that has what you gents are looking for.

I hear the CF Phelps Wildlife Management Area down near Bealeton has a range. Don't know the distance or anything.

There's also supposed to be something in WV.

For those distances, you'll have to find someone with some land.

I used to belong to Quantico Shooting Club. There is a wait for civilians, but worth it if you shoot long distance much. Plus the RSO's there are top notch.
