Hmm--I just got a modest amount of money for my graduation party. I've been wanting to build my 10/22 with a target barrel and laminated pistol grip stock:evil: What are ethics in these situations?

It's your money, do what you want with it.

Was it money given for the party or at the party? If it was money given conditionally (i.e. to use to throw your graduation party) then you probably should use it for that purpose. If it is given to use for something specific, is it really still yours if you break the verbal contract and use it for something else? Not legally binding perhaps, but morally equivelent to stealing IMO.

I used my graduation money to buy my M1A. A lot of people put it toward college, but I already had a semester saved up, so I spent it on something I would enjoy more.

Bottom line is that it is your money do with it whatever you think is right.

Once you get to college, you'll be too poor to buy guns. Don't just buy the 10/22, get something else in addition while you can afford it.
