This is the secound largest city in the state, there have to be some THR members here!!!! When it's raining I shoot til the water boils off the barrel, the rest of the year I shoot mornings and let a gun cool down and shoot another.

Is there anything to do (range-wise) on the west coast of OR? I'm going to be staying at New Port.
I'll be meeting up with another THR member in Eugene.
Thanks.

I am in Albany ,and there is the Albany Rifle and Pistol Club, that is on Saddle Butte, located just of I-5, between Albany and Eugene. It is a pretty cool place, to be a member of.. you can find info for there at, http://arpc.info
Hope this helps you in some way.

Roddy Toyota lives around there, or used to. He's a champion pistol shooter and well known in the area. I think he does some custom work on 1911's as well. I used to chuck refrigerators around with him. I don't know if he hangs out online anywhere, but he would be a good contact to make.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd revive this one...
Anyone know of a decent gunsmith in the Eugene area? I used to drive to Salem and work with John Baker ("GunDoc") of Great West Gunsmithing, but health issues have caused him to close shop.
There was an older guy in town who did a great trigger job on my Remington 700P (can't remember his name and I can't find his card at the moment), but his health wasn't great and he seemed to be more of a bolt action guy than an AR guy, and right now I need some help with an AR.
The phone book sure doesn't help. Where's the next generation of gunsmiths?

There is a IDPA match this Sat. in Eugene i will be there.
The monthly First Saturday IDPA / Concealed carry match will take place at the Izaak Walton League Range this Saturday (March 7th)! We'll be shooting rain-or-shine!
Map to range: http://www.monty.millican.net/eps/epsrange.htm
While you are thinking about it... mark next month’s calendar on the First Saturday (April 4th) so you can make plans to attend.
If you've never shot with us before (or you are bringing a friend who has never shot with us before) please be there by 8:15 AM for a safety orientation.
WE WILL NOT ACCEPT NEW SHOOTERS AFTER THAT TIME, as it takes too much time away from the safety orientation. If you are bringing a new shooter with you, please help them get here on time.
All other shooters, PLEASE be at the IWL Range by 9:00 AM to get signed up. We will lock the gate at 9 AM so as not to be distracted by late arrivals. We will start the walk-through at 9:15, and we begin shooting at 9:30 SHARP!
We will continue distributing ribbons in 3 different classes to match winners. We'll be using the Lewis System, so you don't have to be a great shooter to win a ribbon. Even average shooters have a chance to win something. ** You must be present to win! **
Invite your friends! You/they do not have to be a member of Eugene Practical Shooters or Izaak Walton League to attend the First Saturday match. Your friends and family members are also welcome to come and just watch.
We will have last month's results posted for those of you who had to leave before the awards were given out.

Shout out from Eugene! I'm afraid most people here are fairly anti-firearm, but we're out there ;)

the third Saturday of the month there is also a Steel Shoot. Similar to the IDPA, but no cover garment required, and all targets are steel, rather than a mix of cardboard and steel. Same time and place and early arrival requirements for first timers.

In addition to the IW range, which is only open to the public for these two Saturday events (that I am aware of), Emerald Empire Gun Club has one public and five private ranges (one indoor-.22 only). Website at http://emeraldempiregunclub.org.

Finally, there is The Baron's Den, which has (IIRC) fourteen 50' lanes and five or six 75' lanes. All indoors. Pistol calibers only. No lead only bullets. Only range on the west coast where you can rent and shoot a fully automatic Thompson sub-machine gun. Website at www.thebaronsden.com.

I do my best to make up for the lack of gun owners around here.

There are plenty of gun owners around here, lots of hunters too.
A lot of my friends like to shoot, but nobody seems to ever have the time.
I met one other THR member, who happened to work where I did. We went to the range a couple of times. Then the plant shut down, and he moved to Wyoming for a job. I'm still looking for work.
Isn't that the way it is? Now that I have plenty of time to go to the range, I don't want to spend money on ammo. Anyone who wants to get out and shoot .22's, let me know.

He's still here. I think he's treasurer at the gun club or something. Nice guy, too.

You all just need to pack up your cars and come shoot over here where the sun shines...
Bend has all kinds of good areas to shoot. Much dryer as well.

Agreed, much drier over in the Bend area. I always tried to move there, but my profession never jived with anything in the area. We are heading east of the cascades in two weeks for some vacation. Mostly for squeaks, but also because it's dry and I need to get the new truck dirty.
I'm in Portland Metro myself.
Where are you fatelk? I can shoot weekends occasionally and typically head out to Brown's camp for plinking.
CountGlockula - you might contact ReloaderFred, he lives on the Oregon coast, can't remember exactly where, but it might be NewPort or Florence area.
