Primer Price

I went to the gun show this morning hopeing the powder/primer guy was there as I am under the minimum I like to keep of both small and large pistol. He was not at the last show or I would be OK. Anyway, the same WLP primers I bought from him 3 or 4 months ago at 16.99 were 22.99:what:
I asked him why the price of primers was up and he just said "they don't tell us why they go up"." I guess the price of copper is the reason" Hmmm............... a 35% increase, I don't think so. I believe he was taking advantage here.
I like to buy from the little guy at shows and usually they are a bit cheaper also. His powder prices were the same, just the primers were way up. I had not noticed a price increase on line on primers lately, but then I have not really been looking either.
Are primers up that much all over or not?

Sorry to say but primers have taken a huge jump in price. My local shop was selling them for $17 per 1000 while Cabela's and Sportsman's Warehouse was selling them for $22. When he got his latest shipment he had to raise the price to $22 too because his cost had jumped $5. It's sad how much compo nets have increased over the last year.:cuss:

my local shops are filled with primers. totally filled. i bought a thousand primers yesterday wlr. dont remember price have to find reciept. Do know the price of powder is ok too though. i bought a bottle of trail boss powder. $14.75. So i think it just depends on how big a gun shop your dealing with and i guess where you are at.

Feb. 2nd I paid $17.49 for 1000 Federal Large Pistol primers at a local gun shop. All he carries is the Federal brand. Some of the bigger stores (like Gander Mountain) are getting $21.00+ for the same box.

primers are going up, even at the "chearper" places like sportsmanswarehouse, they;re up to 22/box and usually have almost nothing in stock.
still to cheaper to reload than buy factory though
its all linear though, if factory goes up a couple boxes, you can expect components to keep pace with the increases.

Tried to buy Win primers today. $22.95/1000 at local Carter Country and they were out. Remington was the same. Federal was $20.99/1000. Gander mountain had them in stock but wanted $29.99/1000  I'm going to the gun show tomorrow.

man the price of primers is nuts, I was paying $16/k for standard win and cci LRP and SRPs last summer at sportsmans warehouse, now they're $22 and $24,
I just recently bought 20k of the cci34s from widener's for $15.41 delivered, now if I can just find SRPs at a decent price.

Our local club supposedly sells for 6% over invoice last I heard. The WSP primers that cost $70/5000 last time are now $98/5000. Between that and a 30% jump in the cost of bullets my wallet is beginning to complain. I had to check out commercial prices to console myself.
