OK I'm confused. I was looking at the .45 230gr JHP Remington Golden Saber bullet on the Midway site. I clicked on the Tech. Spec. on the bullet and saw the following:
Bullet design: Semi-wadcutter

I emailed Midway and asked if the bullet is a JHP or a semi wadcutter and this is the response I received:
"Thank you for your email! The golden saber bullet is a hollow point bullet sir. I am sorry about the confusion with the tech notes on that product. The bullet is a semi-wadcutter designed hollow point"

I have never seen nor heard of a JHP semi wadcutter bullet. Is this something new or just something I have never seen or a Midway mistake?

They are confused.

The Golden Saber is a two diameter bullet. The rear most part of the bullet is .452 ( about .224 long ) The rest of the bullet is .444 until it starts to taper. But a JHP, no dought about it.:)

The rest of the bullet is .444 until it starts to taper.

Thanks for the explanaition.

How does this effect the crimp and the OAL? Do you seat the bullet to the line where the diameter steps down? Still do a taper crimp?

Yes, taper crimp as normal. I seat them at 1.235 O.A.L. (factory) That puts the .452 part inside the case so the taper crimp pushes the case wall against the .444 part of the bullet.:)

Shoots real well and cheaper than most quality JHP's.
