You've probably heard of the UK rules on knives, sub 3" blade, folders only. I didnt worry about it unduly 'cos I dont go to the sort of events that attract crowds that might become disorderly - pubs, pop concerts etc. However one or two recent arrest incidents have forced me to change my ways...
The problem is that I have always been accustomed to carry a good quality sharp pocket knife foe peeling fruit, sharpening pencils, and preventing the string monster's bid for world domination. Everyday stuff really!
My latest has been a Falkniven U2, elegant, not an 'aggressive' shape and fiendishly sharp. Its proving hard to find a replacement. I know that Falkniven make a slipjoint version of this but its more than twice the price and too expensive for everyday carry - if it jumped pocket it would blight my week. Its not till you look that you realise just what a high proportion of pocket knives are lock knives too! And of those left in the pool, most will be oversize and the rest under quality. :(
To get to the point, I came across Queen Cutlery knives. The blade material is good. It's just that they seem to be made for and marketed to collectors, and when companies start to make cosmetic changes to keep the collectors interested they sometimes forget the original purpose. Hence the question: Would you buy one of these for everyday use?

Queen is a pretty good knife and demand a higher price for a everyday "working pocket knife". I have a Queen trapper that I have carried for about 10 years now, nothing fancy, yellow derlin scales and GOOD steel.

I've had ONE pass through my hands, a four inch trapper I bought for my uncle, it cost me about fortyfive bucks and was beautiful. near perfect fit, loved the walk and talk, blaze orange composite scales, and some unknown stainless, it was very smooth and felt ''pocket worn'', and I imagine a Jewl to carry. The company used to be held in very high esteem, but I havent heard much about them latley, and wouldn't be able to tell you what model it was, I wouldent be suprized if I happened upon a ''sunday go to meet'n'' knife rather than an ordanary using knife, but boy was it nice.

Dave, bladeforums guys seem to love the Queen (and their premium line, Schatt and Morgan). A lot of them carry them, too.

I just bought one. I've carried a Case for a while, but wanted something with a comarable finish/quality that would hold an edge better than the stainless Case uses. D2 is a great steel. Can't wait till it gets here.

I've got a nice Queen Muskrat style knife and I love it, sharp edge and stays that way. Very good in my opinion.

Many moons ago when folders became the rage, I bought a whole dozen Queens Cutlery large two bladed folders for $4.50 each from my supplier.
I gave one to my Dad,kept one for myself and sold the rest.
I still use the knife after 40 hunting seasons.
Stainless it is but it sharpens easily and holds an edge well.
Queens Cutlery is still in operation by the way.

I have the Queen D2 Cattle King (large stockman) with Cocobolo scales. It's a very nice pocket knife.

I have one of their fixed blades in D-2. They do a very good job on treating this steel, so if you found a pattern you like, see if it's offered in the D-2. The price on their stuff is really reasonable too. Me like! :D

I have a pair of Queens, and two Schatt and Morgans and all are the best made pocketknives I have ever seen. The quality and fit and finish is really second to none and the price is very affordable. Excellent, you can;t go wrong with a Queen or S&M
