Is this normal? I've never owned a Glock, wife put maybe 150 rounds through it.. After I cleaned and lubed (very lightly, per instructions) I noticed when I pull the slide back the recoil spring squeeks like a mattress spring...
Didn't notice that when we were shooting, perhaps it's normal.. I have no idea ;-)

Sounds strange to me. I have never noticed a squeek on my Glock. I use Remington oil that has tefflon in it. I have used it for years and have not had any problems with it.

Odd, I use rem-oil with teflon myself.. The spring wasn't dirty, but just to be sure I cleaned it up.. didn't help.. Couple drops of oil.. didn't seem to help either.
I'm pretty sure I've got it installed correctly, I don't think it would cycle if I hadn't.

When in doubt, replace recoil spring! You can get a captured recoil spring from many sources, and if you're shooting a lot of +P or +P+ ammo, a heavier spring might be advisable.

Heck, it's brand new..100 rounds through it... A heavier recoil spring wouldn't do, it's the wifey's gun and she can just manage the slide as it is..
Hmm, perhaps I forgot to lube where the spring guide contacts the barrel...hmm..
Sounds like I should mosey on over to glocktalk as well ;-)

Don't worry about it. Quite a few new guns squeak.
Some stop, some don't.
It doesn't affect anything.

My G19 squeaks, thousands of rounds on it's recoil spring.
If it ever quiets down, I'll replace it. :D

Per a certain GTer, best fix for a squeaky spring is a good dose of Paxil! ;)

Okay then, I'll stop taking it apart and trying things.. I was about to use some hi-temp wheel grease ;-)

Hadn't even thought of that!

its completely normal, in a few hundred more rounds, providing you keep the barrel oiled on the underside, it will go away
mine did the same thing

Okay, that's what I thought... I just oiled the barrel with a patch liberally doused in rem-oil, wiped around the barrel which left a pretty thin coating...
I think that's what I'm 'sposed to do.
