lets assume 4'' barrel, 147 gr subsonic 9mm ammo.

just how quiet will the Evolution 9mm can by AAC make it?

for reference, I have a 22lr can and with subsonic ammo it is QUIET outside. like dropping a book into the grass. inside its about the same (cept a book on the floor)

can a 9mm can get it that quiet or is the amount of powder and size of the hole going to make it considerably louder?

thanks!

well, as you well know - it's not like they show it in the movies.

I think the best description I can come up with is, a 9mm with a can sounds similar to a .22 without a can, maybe a little less loud than that actually..... but certainly not as quiet as a .22 with a can.

And I'm sure that doesn't help you at all.

You won't get that all to familiar 22 "crack" an un-supressed 22 makes with the 9mm can indoors. Like with the 22, you are hearing slide noise as well. (rack an open 9mm action as fast as you can) Not exactly silent, and with the 9mm you have a heavier slide than with the 22 as well. While you won't be "silent" as in silencer, you greatly diminish the "gun shot" noise to just general noise.

In simple terms, shooting 9mm unsuppressed is painfully loud, shooting it suppressed is just loud.

The evolution 9mm will make a Glock 17 sound like a pneumatic nail gun. Maybe even a little quieter! It is without a doubt the ultimate 9mm pistol suppressor. Nothing even else even comes close.

The only other can which can compete to the Evolution 9 is the SWR Trident which is almost as quiet. However it is considerably larger. It’s really more of a submachine gun can.

Except for these two silencers I wouldn’t consider any of the offerings form any of the other suppressor manufacturers.

I've got an Evo 9.

Best I can describe it?

Take a big book like a dictionary, and slam it shut, hard.

Kind of a Whump.

We just got some of those new Yankee Hill 9mm cans in. Surprisingly quiet. Not as quiet as the Evo, but pretty close.

I love suppressed. :)

The trick to suppressors is subsonic ammo .If you do not shoot subsonic ammo you are breaking the sound barrier and get the sonic crack.

sonic crack and same as a sonic boom? i think that is when the air rushes back into the gun making the initial boom atleast i think.... someone give me a refresher

It helps, but it isn't that big of a deal. The sonic crack isn't that loud. You can tell the difference, but the crack isn't what I would call devestating.

I was going to say like dropping a dictionary on hard wood floors.

Or a hand clap.

fantastic. thanks guys!

last of all, the evo 9 can, i understand you can take the rear section off and screw in a fixed piece to shoot a fixed barreled pistol or carbine through the evo. can you take the entire can apart or just the back part? how does one clean it? i rarely clean my 22 can (it's completly sealed) but i figure more powder = more funk.

I have an Evo-9 and a G-17 combo. It's not as quiet as a 22 silencer, but it's pretty darn quiet. A nail gun is a good analogy, and so is slamming a book on the table. I was amazed at the sound the bullet made impacting the berm downrange. Sounded like a solid punch by a professional boxer into a bag.

Check out www.advancedarmament.com. They make the Evo-9. It is a sealed can, but you can unscrew the back where the ASAP system is and replace it with a fixed spacer.
