I carried a CRKT Desert Cruiser for a while, but went back to my Spyderco Native.

(edit) The Spydie does what I need a folder to do, while being lightweight and handy. It has been used and abused and is still going strong.

Spyderco Endura left pocket, Spyderco Scorpius or Kershaw Leek in right pocket.

Sharpdogs

Usaully a SAK Farmer and LM Squirt P4 with either a Boker Trance or Wharcom. Sometimes a Delica or Griptillian.

Benchmade Mini-<something>*
Victorninox Tinker
Atwood Prybaby XL

* Griptilian, Skirmish, AFCK or Presidio. I've carried each extensively, and actually the AFCK is almost worn-out (I should really send it back to be worked on). I like the Presidio the best, mostly because of the blade shape, but it is incredibly hard on pockets. All of my jeans have been shredded by the scales on the knife. I'm considering making or having made a smooth right-side scale for it.

The Prybaby is a cool little widget, but I don't use it as much as I thought I would. The only saving grace is that when I have used it, it's been very helpful.

CRKT G.W.Hawk D.O.G.

Surefire e1e or maglite 2AA (surefire is brighter for nights, maglite still illuminates and makes a VERY handy basher)
Kershaw tanto blur
Some manner of non-socialwork knife (electrician's knife, retired social knives, schrade lockback)
Chapstick (:p )
a bandana (http://www.donrearic.com/flexibleweapons.html)

It's not quite EDC, but I have a pair of Tactical Grinch Boxer Briefs I wear when out on nightops.

carrygun 1991A1 Compact or Combat Commander in Satin Nickel.

Daily carry Blades
Strider PT , Trace Rinaldi Matrix , Case/Bose 2000 edition slipjoint , all carried in seperate sheaths , keeps em out of view at work ;) These 3 are my users and they get used often. After showing Rinaldi the fixed blade a few weeks ago , he noticed right away it werent no safe queen , I think custom makers love to see their knives get used.

on the weekends/after work I usually slip my Strider AR into my pocket as well , sometimes if I am going without the 1911 , a Blackwood Henchman , Simonich Raven or Zero White Lightning or one of the blades I make will ride in the spot where the 45 goes.

I have been accused of being a walking knife show , especially when wearing my 511 vest , any idea how many blades you can carry to a knife show with one of those :D alot !!

If I'm wearing a heavy belt I will sometimes take a Gerber Multi-tool. I'd like to have a Wave but am not willing to spend for the difference.

My pocket knife is a well used mini-Griptilian. Mine is a little bit older model with the studs for opening instead of the holes. I can't see that there is much functional difference.

XXOXX, I'm going to field this one. Since I'm the one "loaded" for a war zone.
I don't take offense. I dress for whats appropriate.

The times you are out and about its misting, for me its raining. It has to do with the industry I work in. Not high risk like LEO, contracting or Executive Protection. Just slightly higher risk. Muggings, and less so shootings, are common in my trade.

Some may think its over kill, so be it. I look at it as options.

As for the dressing for a warzone and experience, hua, I totally understand, all I'm going to say about it is lead the way.

Only long gun I've got nearby is a 12 gauge, but thats hidden in the vehicle. I've got my other gear at home and at other sites. Just depends on the Sitrep. I'm prepped for shtf and teotwawki if it comes down to it.

Now when I was working 6-4 in an office, I will admit all I carried was a subcompact glock and spyderco folder. As all it ever did was mist.

We should have a thread: "What do you wear when it's wet outside?"

Maybe you you stay dry by relying on forecasts. I stay dry by keeping a rain suit and umbrella in my vehicle and my home at all times.

The few times I've needed a weapon it wasn't in the forecast or I wouldn't have gone out.

I don't live in a war zone either. But seven friends and relatives have been murdered since 1982.

Friend, has it ever occurred to you to buy insurance? Same principles involved. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

JTW Jr.
March 22, 2007, 07:55 PM
as has been said you cant accurately predict the weather , you can have the best of the best at home in your safe , dont do you any good when you are miles away from them and need something now , be it to cut something open , cut that alternator belt that broke and wound itself around the fan , etc or to protect you are your loved ones with.

I keep the spare in the trunk aired up at all times , i aint been able to tell in advance when a flat will occur.

I have many friends who are into blades , they ( and I ) dont carry them cause we feel we live in a war zone , we carry them as tools , cause ya know sometimes it just aint cool to shoot open that box on the loading dock ;)

Knife wise, I always have a SAK Tinker in my left pocket and a Spyderco Endura clipped to my right pocket. I can remember only 8 times in the last 14 years that I didn't have the Tinker in my pocket.

When I am not at work, I have either a Glock 26 or a Kel-Tec P3AT on me.

When I go places where "mean" looking knives and guns are verboten, I carry a mini-mag lite or a large magic marker.

Kershaw Leek in black, with clip reversed so blade point faces up when carried in pocket. This is a legal length in WA, and a very slim knife to carry. The older ones (I have two) have a nicer black finish than the new ones.

Aside from a handgun, I carry an AG Russell yellow delring lockback. I was going to link to it, but his site doesn't show it any more. It's basically a very high quality copy of the old Remington Bullet pattern lockback.

Note: in looking around his site, I spied this (http://www.agrussell.com/knives/by_maker/a_through_d/a_g_russell_knives/folding_knives/a_g_russell_25_titanium_lockback_folder.html). I believe I may have to buy one.

I also have a Cold Steel Voyager (4" blade) and a Kershaw Vapor (3") but neither seems suitable for carry. The Voyager is a little intimidating, and the last thing I need it LEO's searching me for illegal weapons, and the Vapor I can't open with one hand, and I hate frame locks. I think I might return it, actually.
