It seems to me that the clubs for a particular make and model of a handgun seems to be gaining momentum. How about a club for a particular type of gun that fits a certain niche for carry. Those are the guns we use for pocket carry. What they are and why we like them. With the hot summer months comming up, maybe we can help those out who find belt or IWB carry difficult and haven't thought of pocket carry as a viable option. I'll start out with my 642. With my family that includes a 19 month old daughter to chase around, my beloved G19 has to sit out the family outings while my 642 goes out each and every time.

Don't have pics of them but I often have a Beretta 21 or Baby Browning in .25 in a pocket. IWB carry is normal for me, even in the summer, usually with a camp shirt untucked.

I have lots of options, lots -- 44 mag, 1911's, snubbies, sub compacts . . .

The one that gets carried is the one that fits in the pocket, fits in more than one pocket. I have a nice Kahr MK9, sub-compact 9mm. But what gets carried is a NAA Guardian in 32 ACP. I had a Kel-Tek P32, but just couldn't warm up to it.

I've even considered the NAA Mini Mag revolver, 22 mag, JPH. Experience tells me that people who might assault me will probably retreat upon being repeatedly shot with any sort of caliber. The really crazy sort of whackos that the 45 ACP won't stop are the sorts of crazies I'm going to avoid in the first place.

I'll carry a 32 ACP Guardian. I won't carry a 1911 Sub Compact.

About 20% of the time I carry a Bobtailed Smith & Wesson Scandium Commander in an IWB holster. The other 80% of the time there is a Kimber Ultra Carry II riding in my right front pocket in a Sam Andrews pocket holster. A lot of folks have difficulty believing that a .45 ACP is a good pocket gun. Mine works great. The key is, roomy britches, good holster and belt and a good gun. There are several .45 ACP's that will make good pocket carry guns. Mine is just about exactly the same size as my snubby .38. The .45 brings lots of firepower, quick reload and the 1911 in any version has a tendancy to discourage BG's.

I've got a new Beretta 21 that's now a permanent fixture or my right back pocket.

A cheap Hunter pocket holster is all that it requires to be both comfortable, easily accessible, and well-concealed.

I have found that pocket carry is perfect for my lifestyle. I started with a S&W 642 in a cheapo Uncle Mike's pocket holster, but soon obtained a Desantis Nemesis. The same holster is now used to carry my Kahr PM9.

Pocket carry allows me to carry in all types of dress, from jeans to shorts, to dress slacks, to docker style pants, etc. I have carried IWB in the past, but found that I often needed to make "adjustments" during the day to remain comfortable. I can drop the weapon into my pocket and don't fool with it all day long. It is unobtrusive, and always there without giving away that I am carrying.

Please, if you pocket carry make sure that you can dedicate that pocket 100% to the weapon and its holster. Don't carry change, keys, pocket knives, etc. in that pocket in order to avoid NDs. I carry all of the other junk in my off side pocket, along with a spare 7 round mag for the PM9 in a leather slip sheath that originally came with a $4 sharpening stone from Wal-Mart.

One last plus with pocket carry. If you feel threatened you can place your hand on your weapon without presenting it and escalating the situation. There have been times when it is comforting to wrap your hand around the weapon while assessing the threat.

I pocket carry a Rohrbaugh 9mm about 90% of the time (sometimes it is relegated to 'back-up' duty). It's 6+1, sleek and smooth, in a K-D custom holster. Works perfect in pants for all day, in a jacket for easy access in the car. And nobody is the wiser...

Pocket carry is the way to go for most of us, no need to change anything about how you dress. Just get a gun that's dependable, and in a calibre you consider adequate for your needs, and you're done.

I'd really like to give one of those Rohrbaugh's a test drive but I don't know anybody around here that has one.

Just bought a Kahr PM9 and LOVE IT. Great in an ankle hoster. Pocket carry / ankle carry is better than NO CARRY!

Well, for the upcoming HOT summer season I will nominate my Seecamp
LWS-32; as its a well built, small, stainless steel self-loader. Still kind'a
pricey and hard to get; but a great pocket piece~! ;)

But, I also will be alternating my Smith & Wesson 642 and KEL-TEC P3AT
.380 into the mix at different intervals~! :D

Seecamp in a Nemisis holster. Very small and light gun and the holster works in the front or rear pocket.

For when I can't (or shouldn't) carry the XD, I've got a 1903 Colt in an old in-pocket thick leather holster that was passed from my Grandfather to my father to me. I've also used the same holster for carrying a model 1913 Sauer, again an inherited pistol. I prefer the Colt for pocket carry. The holster fits most cargo pants or khaki pockets, since it was made sometime back in the 30s, when real men had large pockets, and looks like nothing more than a Blackberry or other PDA in terms of shape from the outside.

Kel Tec P11 9mm +P, 11 rounds on tap in a 14 ounce (unloaded) package. Fits in a pocket, goes everywhere. Also a Taurus M85UL. I can carry either IWB all day comfort if my pant choice has to have smaller pockets, but that don't have to happen often. I also have ankle holsters for both guns, but I only recall using one of 'em once. I really don't like ankle carry.

340sc in a cheap-o uncle mike's that I like just fine. I pocket carry most of the year, but go OWB in the colder months when we can wear a windshirt at work, just to have a change of pace...
I love the snub!!

My carry guns are a Seecamp 32 in a KC leather back pocket holster, which can be used front or back,Kahr PM9 in kydex pocket holster, and 342 in a Mika pocket holster.Usually the Kahr is in the Car,and either the 342 or the Seecamp is in the pocket, but if I didn't take one downstairs to the garage the Kahr pops into the pocket.I can actually hit what I'm shooting at with it.In the trunk I have a 4 inch 625 RB and a CZ75B 9MM with about 300 rounds for each.

Count me in. The first time I tried pocket carry, with a newly purchased 442 in a Kramer Pocket Holster (last month), I was hooked! Wow. All the talk about "forgetting your weapon" just didn't happen with me when IWB'ing if I was doing anything other than standing. Pocket Carry, OTOH, I can do while lounging in sweats... And still forget it's there!

I just added a Kahr PM9 with a Desantis Nemesis, for those days when pocket carry is my preferred mode, and I'm not in a revolver mood. I like choices :D

I still carry IWB (SIG P239) often, but I suspect as summer's heat closes in, the pocket carry option will become a regular choice.

My 442 (Kahr pics forthcoming once I determine it's a "good one"):

I have been on the lookout for a NAA Guardian 32 as of late. I very nearly grabbed a Guardian 380 or 32NAA, but I am going to hold off for the 32. That's one little bugger! I can't warm up to the KelTec.

I would like to join the club. Pocket carry is the solution to a lot of problems. Right now I'm looking for the best type of pants for pocket carry because my 340PD in a Kramer still prints too much in what I wear now. I've had best luck with pants that have an outside pocket on top of the carry pocket.

Thanks.

Come on in Texas Colt. As a fellow Texan, the heat is a big issue that makes pocket carry feasable.

S&W 340PD in a DeSantis Nemesis, cut to fit. It's 95% of my carry.

I feel that the pocket carry is the quickest and most natural way to carry. Last night, our downtown dinner companion was my 340PD /PCS pocket holster in a pair of dress pants. This morning, Seecamp LWS 32 /Hedley pocket holster, riding in a pair of jeans. Very different guns, both very comfortable in the front pants pocket. Oddly enough, last weedend auto show, Kimber Ultra CDP II/Milt Sparks Summer Special just for a change.
