Lets say that the NFA act and imports ban were null and void by Congress tommorrow. Just go along with me.

Would anyone switch their daily carry to a Glock 18 or Beretta 93 or some sort of Machine-Pistol? Its late and I am just bored. I was curious about this. Would all the people with Glock 17s suddenly have Glock 18s?:D

No I would probably still carry my 642.

Would I buy a conversion for my Glock 19 and a few M16 lowers, an HK trigger group and maybe an M2 carbine and M3 grease gun.

I would also have a bunch of suppressors.

The range I work at the owner has a Glock 18. One of his buddies came in because he wanted to try it, he ended up shooting a few lights out in the range and had absolutely no control of it.

Let's face it, the majority of shooters can barely handle slow fire, let alone full auto.

NFA here today, gone tomorrow! Yaaay! :)

I guess I'd get off my chair, dance a little dance, wave my arms and say "Yippee! we won...." Then, go pour up another cup of coffee, sit down, and...back to life as usual. Hard to get really excited about stuff any more.

I'd have one for fun but for carry, not likely.I couldn't afford the cost of ammo to practice with it enough - not to mention that given some of the statistics of gunfights such as shots fired:shots missed,I don't think they'd do anyone a whole bunch of good-perhaps more bad even.

The G18 is select fire. Sure I would carry one. I would leave it on semi-auto until I got jumped by the Hulk or something, though.

Nope...

While full auto can be fun, and I have no opposition to anyone owning select fire or fully automatic firearms, I don't think I'd own one. However I would own SBR's, especially if I could get a hold of what the UK Police call a H&K Carbine. That is a semi-auto only MP5.

I would probably have a few .22 machine guns, and probably get full auto added to my EBRs for "just in case/just because" but no, I wouldn't carry a full auto unless I had no choice but to go into a war zone, in which case I'd probably be taking the rifle anyway, which would be set on semi.

M2 Carbine

I probably would buy some full auto pistols and maybe some other full auto guns. I might even carry a full auto pistol.

I definitely would convert most of my M1 Carbines to M2 since it's such a inexpensive conversion.

It's like answering the lottery question... What if.. I'm going to ditto waynedm's comments.. Many people at the range have a hard enough time just shooting and hitting the target (and I'm no expert), full auto, might not be a good idea.

But with that said if I could muster up the money I might just purchase one if the wife would allow it..

No, I'd stick w/ my existing assortment for carry. A machine pistol just opens up way too many variables. I'll stick w/ the shot placement & be happy w/ my 5 shot j frame or one of my 10 shot semis :D

For carry? No, I'd stick with a semi-auto, thanks.

CZ-75 with selective fire, with the mag as a forward grip would be nice for winter carry. Something for HD, too... American 180 and a Tommy Gun.

What I'd really like, though, would be a full-auto Five-Seven pistol - they might need to make it all steel

I'd stick with M1911s for carry. Don't think full auto in pistol calibers would be easy to control, there'd be a lot of problems with bad aiming or negligent discharges doing unintended damage.

I have a 3" M1911 which used to have a bad sear -it was an automatic weapon. No way I was able to control the 1-1.5 second burst of 8-rounds when I pressed the trigger.

No.

But my Car AK would be a REAL AK, and I'd have one of those FA .38Super 1911's with the Thompson foregrip like they had in the 20's. (Just for fun though)

for the bullets you shoot. Spray and pray is not a good idea for self defense. Attorneys would have a field day with you. I would not change my carry guns, but I would love to have an Uzi, 1919, and a M2.....chris3

I'm guessing not many of you guys have ever fired a Glock 18. It's not uncontrollable. At 7 yards, it's not difficult at all to keep all your shots on a standard silhouette. Carrying one would not at all be dangerous. If I decided to carry one, I would keep it on auto, and if I needed to make a shot longer than 10-15 yards (unlikely) I would switch it to semi.

I think the only advantage might be an arms length confrontation, but it probably won't make that much of a difference.

In something like an FN Five seveN, that would be fairly practical. If ammo was cheap enough, I'd buy a select-fire five seven.

First of all, let me state the obvious so I don't get "zumbo'd". I think full auto is fine and really wish everyone could have them. No sarcasm, I dislike nanny laws.

Having said that, full auto is the hood ornament of firearms. Outside of extrememly limited circumstances, it has no utility. Fun, yes. Once the novelty wears off, though, it's just really expensive shooting. In the limited applications it's suited for, it's indispensible, however.

No, I wouldn't carry one.

But I would like to have a real "Tommy Gun." I had a Mattel one when I was a kid. I allways called dibs on being "Chip Saunders." :neener:

You young folks might not "get that." :D

full auto is the hood ornament of firearms. Outside of extrememly limited circumstances, it has no utility.

Full auto in bipod-mounted purpose-designed machineguns is effective. With tripod-mounted guns well sited, it is incredibly effective.

In hand-held weapons, it is useless.

Some I'd like to own, just to say I have them...

The Thompson as configured in WWII, and the M3 "grease gun"

The German MP-40

Did Japan & Italy, have any sub-guns then?

Soviet Block PPSh (Or something like that, don't remember the exact name)

I would just probably get some supressors.

foghornl,
The Italians used Beretta SMGs. WWII German paratroopers used them as well.

presuming I lived in a pro concealed carry state, I would find a czech scorpion machine pistol in shoulder holster dang tempting.

It was designed for that kind of carry/usage and has a good reputation. It fires a relatively small round, but then again it is not like you're thinking of shooting a threat just once or twice with it.

I recommend reading Mark Twain's description of Mister Bemis' Allen pepperbox revolver. "It was a cheerful weapon, the old Allen. If it did not fetch what it was sent for, it would fetch something else. Once it was sent for the ace of spades tacked to a tree, and fetched a miner's mule. We did not want the mule, but the owner came out with a shotgun and persuaded us to pay for it. Sometimes it would set off all six barrels at once, and then there was no place safe in all the country 'round but behind it."

Nah, I'd stick with the sort of stuff I shoot now, though I think it'd be fun to have a .22 Gatling gun :D

probably stick with my current assortment of firearms, and a possible addition of a m60 MK43 , lots of fun .

Tecumseh,

Nope. I'd stick with my Taurus MilPro PT145, or switch to my XD 45ACP. Full auto seems like a waste of money to me, especially for Concealed Carry.
