I've finally decided to change the stock on my "Well loved" '92 vintage m70. I have always liked the look on the 989m2 (99m1) stock. So with some spare time on my hands I bought the m2 stock, scratched and scuffed (WOW real walnut and incredile figure), but I'm doing a total refinish anyway. During the process I noticed that the barrel on my m70 is apparently thicker than the old 989 was. I bought a caliper and the barrel channel near the barrel band is only 5/8" wide, my rifle's barrel is thicker at 3/4". The action fits in every other way, so I just need to inlet the barrel channel to the wider 3/4". My question is how to do that, is there a tool designed to do that?? I tried to make a tool to do it, using a 5/8" dowel rod and wraping sand paper around it until it the diameter of the dowel is 3/4". But like I figured:rolleyes: , It just didn't work out. Please help:o
