I used to get a PM alert when I logged on if there was a new one. Recently it has been erratic doing so. Is there a setting I may have messed up. Thanks, Anthony

Don't know if this helps, but I always get them here at the shop (on DSL), and rarely at home (on Dialup).

Walkalong - the problem isn't one of your settings, I checked.

I think there is a bug in the vbulletin code somewhere. I have seen the same problem. 90% of the time I get a PM notice, but the other 10% of the time I glance at the little area in the upper right of the screen and it says I have a PM even though I am positive I never received a notice. Because of that, I have gotten in the habit of glancing up there every once in a while.

I can't seem to relate the times when no notice was given to any particular circumstance, so I do think it is what is called a timing bug. If a certain set of events occurs at the same time or in the same order, the notice part of the code is skipped. Maybe it'll be fixed in the next version.

Now that I think about it, there could be some delay of at least a few minutes, such that if there's a new post to a "subscribed" thread, and then you do something to let THR know you're still logged in, it might decide not to send the notification. I'd have to poke around to be sure.

I've had much the same experience as Mal, and have also just gotten into the habit of glancing at upper right hand side of the screen every so often.
