ever drop a full mag into a target and miss.....

I was over at Target Masters in Milpitas on Friday looking for rifle bags. Suddenly I heard Bam Bam Bam Bam Bam Bam Bam Bam . The RO came out laughing his head off. I figured that whoever was shooting was going to get there heads ripped off or completely miss the target.
Turns out a previous employee requested permission to rapid fire and it was granted.
A man size target was placed at seven yards. Not one bullet hit the paper..... :what:

My first gun my first 100 rounds I didn't hit the target at 25 yards.
Very disappointing but I finally got it the next time.

Hee hee,
reminds me of the time my brother was visiting....he wanted to 'show me how it's done.'
A 15-round mag in a CZ 75, and a few seconds later, after the pistol was empty, after the smoke cleared....the target at 7 yards slowly fell over. Seems he shot the stand, tearing it into a couple pieces, and comletely missed the cardboard! :)

No. Not like that guy. I miss sometimes, but not with the whole magazine.

Now that's odd- see when I was managing an indoor range, we'd regularly shoot after hours or before opening. And I have to tell you, it really helps being able to practice drawing from cover, controlled doubles and even once emptying the cylinder of a Smith Bodyguard from inside a jacket pocket just to see if it was at all effective (it works- all on the paper of a standard B27 at 3 yards. Caught the jacket on fire though… but that’s another story.). We did pretty much everything you can think of doing if you had unlimited access to an indoor 25 yard 10 lane range.
I mean damn. If you work at a range you’ve no excuse not to practice everyday.

10 rounds at 25 yds, only 1 hit the target. Was a shoot and see target with my new steyr M9. I guess I am still getting used to the triangle sight. Oh well, maybe next time...

Emptied a Bersa .380 at a B-21 target at <5 yd many years ago while evaluating whether "point shooting" (~hip shooting) worked for me. (It didn't--it's not easy to completely miss a B-21 at that range, but somehow I managed.) Chucked hip shooting in favor of flash sight picture and haven't completely missed a target with a magful since.:D

Oh yeah. At 100 yards, off the friggin' bench no less. Turns out I had the sights on my FAL adjusted for six hundred meters, and the all of the rounds struck the top of the berm, way over my target.

When I first started practicing at 25 yards I was pretty pathetic. I did hit it, but not like I'd wanted to. I'm happy to report I'm doing a lot better.

How about THREE mags!!??!!
Well, I really wasn't trying to hit anything to tell the truth. My sister married into a large family and moved up to the ranch.
My first time shooting with them I brought my 9mm. To them every handgun holds 6 rounds and spins. We all took turns shooting at can on the ground and other trash. My turn came up, I emptied 16 rounds at a can about 10 yards away, dumped the mag reloaded and fired it up again, and once more. I just wanted to see how fast I could reload, I think I may have actually hit the can a few times but with the dust and the hole in the ground, who knows.
I turned around and the looks on their faces was priceless! To this day they think I am somewhat crazy, which means I fit in!:scrutiny:

in my case they handed 80 guys each a .45, 5 rounds and some instructions in basic pistol marksmaship
out of 80 guys only 3 hit the paper with all 5 rounds
many didn't even get 1 on the paper
the three of us went on to advanced pistol training
the rest did not...

ever drop a full mag into a target and miss..... Quite often matter of fact. ;)
Depends on what the target is, and how hard I'm pushing it.

With a very cheapy DA .22LR revolver the "then-wife" had, I used a whole box (50) starting at 15 Yds and working in, didn't hit the 9" paper plate until 2 yds away, and then only twice.

I took a defensive handgun course and the dude said draw as fast as you can and fire at the target (IDPA target). So I did. I can draw and fire pretty damn fast. We did this for about 5 or so rounds. I could see I wasnt hitting the target, didnt bother me I knew I was just going as fast as I could. Well when the instructor saw I hadnt hit it once he basically bumped me down to basic handgun handling. I wont do that again.

All the time! :D
That's why I shoot slow, one round at a time, don't waste any ammo and gives me more chance of wasting the bad guy

Yes, with two .357 revolvers about 5 yards away from an old fire extinguisher: from the hip, both hands, alternating rapid fire; at night.
But it sure felt cool.

when i was at the range sunday i finally got the instruction i needed on how to get the sight picture, and make the rounds hit what i want to hit. this older guy in the lane to my left helped me out, and because of his help, my confidance got the boost it needed. for some reason, i shoot an inch to the left, consistantly. and my shots were always going high because i (like the noob i am) didnt know how the front sight is supposed to be situated between the rear sights.
i felt like one of the big kids when my shots hit the same place again and again. i discovered i can keep from moving side to side, but i do float up/down, well usually down.
i just wish i had started talking to him a few hours earlier.

22LR PT22 Taurus. couldnt hit brick wall unless i stuck the barrel on it. after a lot of rounds i figured the bullet sure has a lot of rise comin outta the barrel now i can usually hit a pop can from 5 ft away.
my AR 7 survival rifle that was a hand me down had a bad extractor, fubared magazine, an a few other problems couldnt even empty a magazine. im scared to shoot that thing with it tied to a tree an using a string, its now a wall hangar

my in law and i went ground hog hunting, didnt see a one all afternoon.we walk back to the car and out of the fencerow, not 15 yards away, crawls the fattest whistlepig we had ever seen.we both fired at it until we were out of ammo(he had a rem 700 222 and i had a savage 222) when all the dust settled and we could still hear the booms fading off in the distance, it was just setting there and slowly crawled back into the fencerow.

Trying to one-hand my Cobray M11/9 (ala Chuch Norris, Steven Segal, Miami Vice). Sometimes I actually get 2 hits on the target from the 32-round magazine. Birds and low flying aircraft are in more danger than my target.

2 Sundays ago, I had the opportunity to shoot a fellow gun club member's North American Mini-Revolver (the folding holster one but he had the holster removed and taped up the grip, .22 mag). I had shot the first cylinder (5 rounds) at my target, 8.5"X11" paper, at ~7 yds. I did not hit it at all. Second cylinder, no holes. We took a break and we moved up to ~3 yds. 2 holes lower left. Another cylinder, 2 rounds upper left. Had to aim along the top of the barrel as the front (and only) sight is too high.
I think my problem was due to the stiffer than (IMO) normal trigger and I was pulling the gun all over trying to compensate.
Also, ~7 yds years ago, I tried a coworker's SW 625 (smooth wood grips, .45 ACP) 1 out of 6. I did not like the grip at all, worst I have ever tried. Too narrow and too (front to back) long. I was shooting cloverleaves with my FA .454C right after.

Yep!
Two mags with 7 rounds each via Colt Combat Commander at one bowling pin. Got witnesses to prove it. I had just knocked 4 pins off the table with 6 rounds. The last pin just stood there. And I cranked them out slow.
Traded guns and hasn't happened since.

We took a friend of mine from college to the range one day, and he maintained that he was comfortable with a .38 or 9mm, so that's what we rented for him. Well, he wasn't shooting too well at the 7-yd line, so he insisted that he'd probably be more comfortable with a .22. Okay, so we rent a .22 and up to the line he goes with a fresh target a 7 yds. After he had fired all ten rounds, we brought the target back. Not a scratch on it. :D

Saw this at "Gun School" once. Head Instructer had invited a local LEO out to "try him out" for a AI position. The guy shows up with a tactical black thigh rig. HE never would shoot though.
When he was finally goaded into shooting he draws his Glock and dumps the whole mag completely missing the IDPA target completley.
He didn't get the job.

After trying several of my dads handguns I went back to G19 that I know and love. I tried it 2 handed, 15 rounds, and didn't hit the target at all from like 10-15 yards. Change mags. One-handed, same spot, about 10 out of 15 hit the paper.
Couldn't understand why I did better one-handed then 2-handed. I still have a better shot one-handed then I do 2-handed.

Squirt, maybe you need two Glock 19s, one in each paw?
I'll drop a whole mag on something and miss if it's weakhand only on a steel pizza 10 yards away or a personal pizza or something and I'm having a very bad day. Usually I can get good hits w/ my Beretta.
I can miss anything with my M1A though. Between the rear sight screw being loose (my fault, forgot to tighten it) and the bullet hitting the muzzle brake....glad it's fixed now.

ONCE
In grade school at a camp we went to. I woke up late at night and wandered off to the "range". I was so sleepy I completely missed the target at 1/2 yards, my mag was empty by the time I was done. I don't know who cleaned up but I sure as heck didn't. :D

I bought a used Chinese SKS that was arsenal re-blued and the
sights were way off! when I tried to shoot at 100 - 200 yards it
was hitting about 10 ft high to the right! at the dirt back stop.
but this was because of the sites not the shooter.

I was shooting steel with my G17 a while back and it took me almost three mags to put down 9 targets.
I was mortified...
The next week, I got much better. But I guess that day the pepper-poppers just had my number...

With a 10 round mag in each, I Bruce Willised two of my 1911s at an FBI target 15 yards away shooting with both eyes open. Twenty-two rounds later I had two hits that would have given the BG anything more than a spectacular fright. At the end of two hours, and about 250 more cracks at it, I had turned a pretty good modified weaver, one eyed closed shooter into an ammo wasting moron with the aim of a walleye trying to peer through lake ice.
I knew it before and only confirmed it then: Last Man Standing is complete and utter horse puckey. I too can hit anything I point at using blanks.:what:
I can also "homeboy" my laser gripped 1911 9 for 9 in the A zone however. Cheating is fun.

Cool. I shoot there once in a while. Usually the rapid fire comes from the cops that practice there - Milpitas PD is in the same parking lot. Quite often though I've seen LEOs do almost the same thing. Rapid fire, casings rain down on my head and then I look over and there's only 2-3 holes in the paper, with maybe only one in the black. BTW, Bull's Eye in San Rafael allows rapid fire, so I usually practice there.

A friend and I were up on the back side of Mt. St. Helens a couple years ago, camping and fishing. On the way back to camp one evening he spotted a big Ruffed Grouse in a tree about 50 - 60 yards away. He pulled out his MkII and emptied a mag, the grouse was still there. He emptied another one and then one of mine and was on the fourth when I happened to catch the sun reflect off one of the bullets. I said, "you're a foot low and 2 to the left" he said "ok".
Next shot the grouse came down.
I haven't let him forget it yet.

I was over at Target Masters in Milpitas...
I used to shoot there once in a great while after the National Shooting Club went out of business, but there were too many illegal aliens to suit me, and too many people who'd obviously never heard of the four rules. I hope it's a safer place to shoot these days.

A couple weeks ago (our first time shooting in 4 months), my girlfriend, my brother and I showed up at the range with a bunch of guns. We pulled out my two 1911s, loaded up, put a 8x11" target at 7 yards and went to town. NONE of us could hit the target, so we moved the target to ~5 yards and plastered the cardboard with more targets so that only targets could be seen (cardboard was 2x3.5' and previously used, so spotting shots was pretty hard). Even after that, we couldnt even figure out where we were hitting. After spending about 150 rounds of .45acp and the best we could get was 3 rounds I managed to get into the 7 ring at 5 yards, we called it a day and I started searching for a .22 pistol.
Now I've got a Ruger MkII Government and a .22 conversion for the 1911s and we're hitting the range tomorrow, hopefully we'll do better.
