Best flowing powders for .223

I'm getting ready to reload .223 on a Lee Loadmaster, and I'd appreciate opinions as to which powders will go through my measure reliably. I've used 2230 in the past, with suspect results. Any thoughts?

Any small-diameter, ball powder will flow well through a powder measure. I use BL-C(2), H322 and H380 in my Lee Perfect Powder Measure with no problems. I made a high mount for my measure and give the measure a slight "double tap" with my fingers after I have dropped the powder into the measuring cylinder and again once I have dropped it into the case. I believe this procedure keeps the powder density at the opening to where the powder goes into the measuring cylinder more consistent. I check my charge weights every so often and they seem to hold pretty well. A statistical check shows a standard deviation over ten drops to be just 0.25 grain when the charge was set to 60.5 grains of H4831SC. I use a powder trickler when I really want to load precise ammo, which is almost always. I load for .223 in an AR-15 and for 300WSM in my target rifle. I use H4831SC and RL-22 in the 300, the loads for which are always trickled.

AA 2520. No charge to charge variation whatsoever through most popular powder measures. A very accurate ball powder.

H335 is a favorite of mine. Any ball powder will meter great and any short kernel stick powder will do fine as well, such as H322. :)

I've loaded W-748 and H-335 with great results on my Dillon RL-550B.
In the .223, I've gotten a little better groups from the H-335.

H335 and BL-C(2) flow identically thru my older measure. So far they're the only powders I've used for .223 Remington, and I do not experience any problem with how they flow thru. I knock at the top and just throw the charge.
Earlier this year I got a Lyman DPS-1200 II so I'm anxious to now try some Varget sometime in the near future. With the DPS-1200 I don't make ammo quickly, but I sure make it consistently! :)

The 4895 may serve you better with the 55s. Not to say Varget isnt a good choice, but Varget is a bit less powder measure freindly. Might try some Benchmark at some point in time. It works pretty good with the lighter bullets. As does AA 2230, if you can find it.

TAC is used by many for 55gr bullets and up. I've used it with 64 to 80gr bullets with good to great results and its on sale @ Midway $9.99lb. A very good deal if you order enough to make it worth the hazmat.
