what can a guy use to check a powder scale to be correct when he doesn't have proper check weights?? i have the lee powder scale and it only goes to 110 grains i think...... i did weigh some crossman premier heavy pellets to see how it read and it seemed pretty good as they are supposed to be 10.5 grs... but they could off alittle too i suppose............

I use a Sierra Match King bullet, their weights from one bullet to the next are very consistant. Just use the same bullet every time. A SMK in .224" will fit within the range of your balance.

Good idea I think to just get some (http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=212586) check weights. They're not terribly expensive.

If your not loading to kill bear, your scale will work fine. Just zero it before you weigh a charge, and make sure the balls in the right spot. I dont load anywhere near max, so if a Hornady 55gr bullet weighs 55gr, on my previosly zeroed scale, Im happy. If I was loading to the max, I would get some check weights. The Lee scale works great, and is very consistant.
