I have a six-inch S&W 686 that I wish to use for close range hunting (deer). The Remington 180 grain SJHP looks interesting, but I'm having trouble locating reliable data for reloading this bullet. Does anybody have a reliable source that I could look up ? I know that Hornady has data for their version of the 180 grain bullet, but I'm just wondering if it is interchangeable with the Remington product. Thanks... (P.S.; I hope to be able to use Win 296 powder in this application).

Paco Kelly used to have data in a couple of his articles on www.sixgunner.com but that website has completly changed and I don't know if you can still access their archieves.
I have tried them, and I used his data. I don't recall the details. If you don't get anything in a day or two, remind me and I will look it up.

You have mail. I didn't re-read those articles to see if it answers your questions. The articles I was thinking of are on another computer which is not hooked up. Let me know if you need them.

I use those bullets. I started with the Hornady 180gr XTP data, reduced it a bit and worked back up to where I wanted to be. I push them to 1250fps out of a 4" barrel.
Edited to add: I see you want to use 296. I use H-110 for my loads with that bullet. 296 should work well.

Midway's 357 magnum loadmap has loads using this bullet.
