How long would you give the ATF before calling about a C&R?

Next week will make two months since my card was charged, and I know I'm clean (I've purchased four firearms since sending in the app), so I'm starting to get nervous that my paperwork got lost.
On the other hand, I don't want to be a PITA to the feds and have my application get shuffled even further back...

I think the ATF has a website with a FAQ about what to do and how long to wait before calling.

sanson, you're a Class 1, right? We're talking C&Rs.
I'd give them 60 days.

My first application was processed in 10 days, IIRC. After I let that expire and reapplied for another after I moved to a different federal district, the second application took about 5 months.
It all depends on how busy and/or how hard working the agent is who is working on your application. If you don't have anything in your background that would prevent of getting one, sent in your application, and they have charged your card, eventually you will get it. Just requires patience. (I never pressed the ATF on my delay.)

If it's been a couple of months I'd start calling. Sometimes a phone call can get your paperwork out of the stack that's been sitting there gatheriing dust.

I waited about six weeks to start calling. After that, it was once a week. I actually talked to a live person twice. Don't bother leaving a message, they don't call back!
On a happier note, my C&R supposedly was mailed last Wed (3-14) after 3 1/2 months.

Oh, about two weeks. Then call them up once a week, every week, saying "Is it done yet is it done yet is it done yet?"
It might not help but it would sure be fun.

They start getting busy this time of the year due to the fireworks industry kicking up for Independence day.

An application shall be approved or denied within a 60-day period beginning with the day a properly executed application was received. Start calling...They will probably tell you it can take up to 90 days, and that your status is "pending".

mailed my application beginning of January... Still waiting.... I'm clean as a whistle, CPL, no issues EVER buying a firearm.... I did get that seatbelt ticket a dozen years back though... that must be the hold-up (no pun intended) :)
