I have a pair of rosewood grips that I wanted to try and put a good shine to. I was wondering what yall use on your grips? Does a polyurethane do well on these things? New to woodwork and didn't know where to start. :banghead: Thanks for any ideas. OH, if i posted in the wrong place, please let me know where to post this. PMs welcome

I have used Casey's TruOil since 1963 for refinishing many rifle, shotgun, and pistol stocks including stocks/grips made of Rosewood with great results.

Good shooting and be safe.

Tru oil will work .I would suggest wiping the grips with acohol or acetone as rosewood has natural oil in it and may keep the finish from adhereing properly.

good luck ,

Might try the Minwax Antique Oil Finish. There's a thread on it as a stock finish here:

I tried it on a checkered grip, using a soft toothbrush to work it in then wiping off the excess, using a cloth around the brush. Several coats gave a very nice, hard finish.

Personally, I like how tung oil looks. It gives it a satin matte like finish while deepening the color.
