Ever since I got burglerize last year I've been looking for a replacement for my S&W 22A. I wanted a revolver to begin with, but I got the auto cheap.
I'm sort of undeceid between the pathfinder and the model 94SS2. I'm also looking at Heritage's Rough Rider w/ 3.5" due to the price.
I'm sort of favoring the pathfinder due to being American made and no adj sights. I just hate adj sights on handguns.
I may just get a Rough Rider for now and a DA later when I have more money.

I have and old Charter bulldog .44. It doesn't see much range time. It only has about 500 rounds through it over a 15 year period. In terms of durability, I think the taurus might have an edge. Rossi also falls within the same price range and they are owned by Taurus. If you're not opposed to buying used, You can definitely find a Ruger GP100 in that price range as well and you would have a very solid gun.

Does Rossi have a .22 LR revolver? I did pick up a Rossi .357 2" after I got robbed, but havn't had a chance to shoot it.
I'm looking for a .22 DA revolver, but I'm not willing to pay $600+ for a S&W. And I have noticed that the GP100 in .22 LR even used is high.
I have nothing agaist autos, and may even get one, but I do perfer revolvers.

Actually, now that you ask, I don't think Rossi does make a .22. In any case, either the Charter or the Taurus should hold up to a steady diet of .22 though I'm not sure which company offers the better warranty. I have no experience with Heritage firearms. I agree, for the cost of the S&W .22, you could get a good .357 or something. I'm not sure how much the Ruger Mark series .22 auto cost, but they seem to have a pretty good reputation. I don't understand why you can get .22 rifles all day long for about $100, but a handgun costs an arm and a leg

My guess is that since handguns have a much higher demand then rifles do they cost more.
How come S&W revolvers are so high? Are they so much better then Taurus, Rossi, or Charter arms that they can charge almost twice as much?

No one else has a new charter 2000 pathfinder? Or Taurus model 94? Even a HM Rough Rider .22, they want to commit on?
I have half a mind to pick up a Jimenez Arms JA-22....

Rossi did make a .22 but since discontinued. GP100 never did come in a .22. Would stay away from taurus 94 and charter. If you like the taurus, the tracker has a better track record than the 94. For the same price you can get a Ruger sp101 .22 if you can find one. Better quality in the Ruger.

Ok what is wrong with the model 94 and pathfinder? I don't like long barrels so that rules out the tracker.

The M94 is cheaper, holds more shots, is more readily avaliable, and has a lifetime warranty (regardless of custome service). It can be had in an ultralite version and with full size combats or boots.

I would go with the Taurus M94. I have one myself and I am very happy with it. So far I have put about 500 rounds of ammo through it, and I have only had one misfire and that was with cheap Remington bulk ammo. The M94 is extremely accurate and reliable. It has a great single action trigger pull. The only downsides to it, are that it has a rather heavy DA trigger pull, and the grips are a bit small for me.
The Heavy DA pull is not really an issue for me since I shoot the M94 for accuracy, and that is a Single Action job. You can buy larger grips from Houge.
All in all I have been very pleased with my Taurus, and would recommend it.
Edit: Before you buy, go ahead and perform The Revolver Checkout. It is stickied at the top of the Revolvers sub forum. I have heard from people that have had horrible experience with the M94, and people like me who have had a great experience. I would perform The Revolver Checkout, to make sure you pick up a good one.

Two local dealers will no longer carry Charter 2000 revolvers.
Return issues.

Who looked at one, I was not impressed. :scrutiny:

Taurus. I would never, ever, get a Charter Arms of any sort. The design is horrible and all the ones I've had just stopped working. Binding is a huge problem with them. At one time I suspected they were made by RG!
RGs are the only revolver that are worse, IMO.
