Hello to all,

I did try doing a search for this subject, but came up empty handed. Can you give me the loads you shoot for IPSC / USPSA for 40 S&W it would be appreciated. I am shooting a CZ Tactical Sport in 40 with a 5 inch barrel.

IF you know of a thread for this subject please direct me to it.

Thanks,
Joevilla71

I use 4.4 grains of Titegroup, 180grn. Zero JHP, Winchester Small Pistol primer, mixed brass. Chronos at around 940fps out of my Glock 35.

4.5 titegroup & Berry's 180g FP with a OAL of 1.18 makes pf all day every day.

I use the 180gr Montana Gold JHPs, WSR primers, and 4.x Titegroup-- enough to make 169PF.

I HATE TiteGroup, I had really inconsistent results with it and BIG swings with temperature changes. The shortest load I tried it in was 1.180" though, the short loads might make enough pressure to get it running well. Rifle primers helped a lot, that got the SD's down in the mid to upper 20's. With rifle primers I still had to run 181+ PF to be safe, temperatures and humidity levels can both swing by 30+ here in a matter of hours. My 181 PF load shot 165.1 at the first big match I went to, temps dropped 30* and humidity went up 40% from when I shot them over the chrono to match day.

I am loading Clays now, but ONLY in long loads. DO NOT try to run it at normal 40 lengths at Major power factors. It can be done, but your margin for error is almost non-existant. I still have some temperature sensitivity, but not nearly as bad. It is a lot cleaner, and puts a LOT less heat in the gun if you practice. SD's are single digit. I backed down to 173 PF and they chrono within 3 PF from 35* and 100% humidity to 90* and 70% humidity.

I would run Unique before I went back to TiteGroup but there is one guy that uses something other than TiteGroup for every 15 guys shooting a 40 at Major around here. A couple have gone Minor at matches too.

That's really interesting. I have not had any of those issues with Titegroup. I have found it to be one of the most consistent powders I have used. I have loaded 4.3 gr with a 180 for years. Easily makes Major out of a G35.

Joe, you are running short loads for Glocks? I haven't tried them that short. I have seen others with problems at the chrono, but you only hear about it when the problems are bad enough to go minor...

If you ever want to try a factory load that makes about 168pf the Winchester White Box 165gr. has worked for me in the past, but it depends on your barrel. In reloads I use N320 myself. Burns clean and consistant.

For major I run a 4 grains of tite group behind a 180 grain baer creek molly bullet, 1.125 oal, with the deepest crimp I can do without breaking the molly.

I can also make a nice minor 40 load for steel matches by using the same 4 grains of tite group behind a 140 grain baer creek molly bullet seated to 1.120 with a deep crimp. Real accurate, soft recoiling load that takes steel plates with athority.

I'm a real fan of tite group as it's great for working up light loads for games where there is no power factor.
