I will be there Friday and Saturday. I work the airgun range (I'm an NRA Instructor) both days...Fri afternoon and Sat morning. Stop by and say hi. I'll likely have my Molon Labe hat on.

From the pictures, I see a lot of booths. Will there be stuff for sale? What all is there to do for non-NRA members?

Grayrider -- you bet I'll be there...and I'll bug you on the status of my DSA SA58 Para Carbine build. Yeah, I know I only ordered it 6 weeks ago and DSA quoted 12 weeks...BUT I'M IMPATIENT!!

I'm surprised that, as gifted of a graphic designer that Oleg is that there aren't any TheHighRoad shirts for sale on the site.

Guys, keep in mind that you're going to be spending a LOT of time in St. Louis City.

It is NOT a gun friendly environment. If you get made/grabbed by po-po, they're very likely to confiscate your carry piece "until they confirm it is not a crime gun." Your out of state permits are GOOD here, but the city police aren't too down with that.

Also, the area around the convention center at night is not the world's greatest. If anyone has questions, PM me, and I can point you toward some nice places to eat, etc...

PM sent to Bogie re: restaurants. DSA will not have anything for sale, but expect to see some fine examples of the FAL in all its glory.

:D

Also the new TP9, our AR15 line, and of course amazing finishes by Lauer Custom Weaponry.

I'm taking Friday as vacation day to go either to Cabela's opening (at the Mills) or to the NRA convention, and then go to the 'other' one on Saturday.

I imagine that since Friday is a regular workday, traffic will be heavier than it would be on Saturday - especially early in the morning.

Would it make any difference going to the NRA convention on Saturday instead of Friday?

Thanks

Alex

I think Cabela's grand opening is friday, but at what time I don't know. Traffic stinks from 7:30-9:30am and 3:30-6:00pm ish. But it depends on which way you are heading. North from 55/270 and east on 70 in the morning is bad, and the opposite during afternoon. 370, where Cabela's is, is usually pretty smooth sailing. Getting to 370 is the problem.

What direction are you coming from?

And it has been my experience that city coppers don't really target adult white males. Just the way it is.

I think I will be taking my GF on Saturday. I want to check out all the booths and stuff. Should be a good time.

For Cabela's
I can get to the Mills in about 10 minutes just about anytime. There is an excellent theater (Regal 18) there as well.

For the NRA convention
I take 40 East to go downtown, and I know it is heavy traffic. Then there is parking, which will be a lot worse Friday than on Saturday.

I think I'll leave the NRA for Saturday unless there is some compelling reason to go Friday. Anyone?

Just an idea but if any other THRers are interested in getting dinner Friday or Saturday night we should have a forum eating fest. I know it's a little last minute but if anyone else is interested post or PM me. I can't wait for the show it was so cool last year.

Don't plan on buying much of anything, in fact probably nothing. This is not a gun show for purchasing. It is really more of a trade show. I was at the last Convention in St Louis, back in the 80s and it was just fabulous. You will be able to meet almost anyone who is anyone in the gun field. I saw Bill Jordan but didn't get a chance to talk to him. However, I was trying out a computer/laser practice range when the person standing slightly behind me and to my left, where I couldn't see him, made the comment I was doing pretty well. I turned around and it was Grits Gresham.:D

I plan to be down there when the doors open Friday morning and stay as long as my feet hold out. After that I'm thinking about visiting Cabela's, which I can almost see from my house. If you happen to see someone with a black camera bag on their back with a Pentax K10D, it will probably be me.;)

Will be there. Not sure how anyone will be able to know other people from THR. If anyone comes up with a simple way, let us know. I asked the same question on Ruger forum. A few resposes there also, but still how do we know each other and meet.
I think we ought to set up a time at a local range instead and whomever has time could come and meet.

I will be the late 30s aged fellow with the goatee standing in the DSA booth hopefully providing intelligent answers to questions.
