Ok, so I know I am gonna get alot of strange looks and comments when I go shooting next... I already have all the usual Glocks, Sigs, HKs, etc.... so I decided to try something different. It's weird, I keep going back to 22LR.

Anyways, here is my new gun. My flame suit is on.....

A barrel that long alleviates a bunch of wind drift of the rounds fired cuz they're already half way to the target before the wind catches the bullet.

Your are probably pretty darn close to .22-carbine muzzle velocity with a tube that long. I seem to very vaguely sort of recall reading somewhere that .22LR ammo hits peak at around 16" or so of barrel.

Only things I see missing are the "gun bearer" and a bi-pod.

Per your orignial post re laughing too much..."snick snick chort chort"

Yes, it is a Taurus 980 Hunter with a 12" barrel. Kind of rare as they only make a production run once every three or four years.

Question. Is it even possible to mount a scope on this pistol? I don't want to have the gun tapped/drilled. Are scope mounts made that can mount with an alternate method for wheelguns that aren't factory drilled/tapped?

My cousin brought a .22 buntline revolver almost as long as that

Yes, I still have the Taurus 980 Hunter. EVERY time I go to the range, I look out of the corner of my eye and see people pointing and staring at it. It ALWAYS gets attention.

As far as performance goes, the 980 is actually quite accurate. I normally shoot in single action mode, and can often hit the small plates with the 980 that I was unable to hit with my other guns.

The only downfall to this gun so far is that it is fairly heavy. But still, it really isn't that heavy to make it unshootable.

So for the attention alone it gets a big thumbs up. Factor in the great accuracy and it is a sure winner in my book.
