I saw a old star pistol .45 acp, SA model about the size of a para carry or companion (Maybe a little bigger.)
It is well worn, but tight, very smooth trigger, and decent sights.
I put a deposit on it.
The shop owner is a good guy, and the gun has been sitting there for as long as I can remember.
I think he will take care of me as far as warranty goes, be has always done good by me in the past.
$279.00
The gun feels not too tight, and not too loose, and just feels like a good shooter.
*edit*
Just went to worldguns.ru, and they identify it as a star model BM.
Basically a B compact.

They identify it wrong. A Star BM is a 9mm.
A Star .45 is a model M (early), P (standard), Super P (cam lockup), or PD (compact). I saw a PD in a seldom visited store the other day and am thinking about going back and buying it.
Taking care of you on warranty would depend on parts availability, which can be nil. Not a great problem at the price, they are military weapons and not notably weak, with one exception, the firing pin. Do not dry fire it, the firing pin is retained by a vertical pin under the rear sight. It is prone to break and is very inconvenient to change out. Do not carry it in Condition 2, some Stars have full length firing pins and a hammer lowered on a loaded chamber would have the firing pin on the primer. I know of two ADs from that.

So it's a PD?
I don't see any marking on it to denote model.
It says STAR and SA on the slide.

Are you sure it isn't a "M-45"? "Firestar 45 all steel compact white dot sights, pivoting trigger. If it's alloy and you would notice because they are very light, the it's the "PD"
The M-45 has stamped checkering on the front and back strap and the PD doesn't. Price for both are about $200-$250 used.

That looks like a 9mm or a .40, not a .45. The M-45 looks just like that but is a tiny bit different.

Firestar, It's just for show man and yes it's a 40. (same look)
Either way Caz, you have no warranty or Importer but Mike at M&M still has a few parts. Tell me what you have and I'll tell you what you may need.

It looks like firestar's auction link.
Exactly.
I'm going to ask if I can put 5 rounds through it before I buy...

The PD is a good little gun, it was the first of it's kind and is very light which makes it a little flippy . They have a black plastic shock buff in the guide rod and that can be replaced with clip on's which are hard to find now or thin 1911 buffs. To do so the rod has to be carefully unscrewed while the spring is compressed.
This can be a pain and doing it the first time requires heat because it has lock tight or glue in the threads and the rod is round and has nothing to grip onto. Great care must be taken not to damage the rod ends (both of which unscrew).
Be sure to use a buff! The front bushing can crack after 5000 rounds which is designed that way to save the frame so try to find an extra.
The adj rear sight can move around so once you have it sighted in with carry loads put a little lock tight in there.
When you remove the right grip BE CARFULL not to let the safety go passed down!!!!!!!!!!! The little plunger will fly out and you will loose it!
Other than that, they are great little guns and will feed and extract anything. Mags can be found at www.cdnninvestements.com
Hope this helps.

Kahrma,
My link was to a Star PD not a M-45. You told him about the M-45. Give the man the skinny on the PD.
I have never owned one but I can't think of a major problem that I have heard the PD having. I think they are pretty solid guns. For $275, they are built better than most $275 1911 style .45s. It is not really a 1911 because not all the parts interchange but it does have the look. I think you will be happy with it because I feel that you get more than you pay for when you buy most Star pistols.

Yeah, I edited the reply for the PD, thanks.
BTW, the PD is totally different than a 1911 and the aluminum can get chewed up over time or with hot loads but they are great little carry guns and were the first to come out with a compact 1911 style alloy frame 45acp.

I will use that auction site to beat the local dealer down on the price of his. Yum.

Sweet.
I think I'll try to beat my dealer up a little, too.
At least for a box of ammo.
thanks for the replies.

I have one of these fine little handguns and like it a lot! Mine is the nickeled one and it is a good quality gun, but I have big hands and get "Hammer Bite " every time I shoot it. It has been relegated to my "live in the truck gun" and doesn't get shot much. It has been reliable and as accurate as can be expected but spare mags are getting pricey. No it's not for sale.!!!!!!!1 :D Mine is marked PD on the bottom of the grip near the mag well. :D
