Would like someone to answer a question that I've had for some time and been unable to clear up to my satisfaction. Is it okay to shoot Nato etc. 7.62x39 interchangeably with .308 win in my rifle? The answer that I've heard the most is that there is sufficient chamber room in the 742 to preclude any worries over pressure spikes due to the slightly higher loading of 7.62 over
.308.

Anybody got a "for sure" fix on this dilemna? thanks - bowhair:confused:

7.62x39

Stop right there.

7.62x39 is not in any way compatible with .308 Winchester or 7.62x51.

Otherwise, 7.62x51 should be safe in a .308 Win firearm, but not nessecarily the other way around.

thanks, zinj. I meant to write x51, not x39. I often make that mistake because I have AK's as well and am talking about them with friends frequently. So, you think that the .308 win and the 7.62x(51!) would work fine in my model 742 Remington? that's great ... that being the case I can save some money on ammo for that rifle, then. thanks - bowhair:uhoh:
