Before I go away tomorrow .... just thought I'd post these pics ... firstly I find this real purdy ... always liked the look of a belt of ammo! Sorta ..... well ...... esthetically pleasing! :p Almost too good to shoot in some ways!

Actually tho ... I'd be interested to here from the 303 ''buffs'' what they reckon on this stuff. I was told that Greek .303 is higher pressure stuff but not sure .... haven't yet researched thru web links but thought I'd run this by you first.

Anyone any input here?

What gun takes belt-fed British .303 ??? A belt-fed Enfield perhaps??

A Vickers, of course!

Lewis guns too, I think. And the Japanese actually used .303 in their aircraft machine guns for a while. :scrutiny:

A Browning takes linked .303, as well. It was probably aircraft ammo.

The Lewis gun was magazine fed, so no belt there.

The Vickers used a cloth belt, so I'm not sure if this ammo would have worked on those, probably used in a Browning.

The Mk8 ammo is MG ammo, and slightly higher pressure than the Mk7 Enfield stuff, IIRC.

What Swingset said.

Also, the Japanese guns used a different 7.7 mm round, not .303 British.

Freud would have a LOT to say about that.

Freud would have a LOT to say about that.

To quote George Carlin: "And of course all the bombs and the bullets and the rockets are all shaped like." Well, you know. ;)

Actually the Japs did use some 303 in Lewis guns. They did have several types of 7.7 rimless and semi-rimmed ammo.

A real logistical nightmare.
