I'm thinking about getting out of the beam balance operation and steping up to electronics. What are you opinions of the RCBS ChargeMaster Powder 1500 Scale/Dispenser Combo?
How is is with "flake" type powders vs: "ball" type powders?

I have had one for about 2plus years, the first one had the key pad go out after about 16 months. RCBS had me send it in, and I got a new one back. That one has been troube free for about a year. I keep my balance scale as a back up to the electronic. Always have a back up!

I sure agree to that . Right now I have a RCBS 10-10 balance and a Redding Match grade powder measure. They work great but they slow things down when I want to do a bunch at a time. When I got those I was mainly doing hunting rifle loads but now that I'm doing a lot more pistol I'd like to speed things up.

Mine works quite well with the powders I've used (that means 2400, Trail Boss, and rifle powders like IMR 4895 and Varget). It seems to have no problems with big-grained powders like Trail Boss. The dispenser part is essentially an automated powder trickler.
However, it is by no means as fast as a powder measure. It takes quite a few seconds to dispense each charge. I just use my Hornady drum-type powder measure when I load pistol cartridges.

they work great. your going to have more trouble with realy fine powders like aa#2 than with the "standard" ball like aa#5 due mostly to static. flake and extruded powders give me no trouble at all. you might also consider the lyman 1200, works just as good but has a 30 min "calibration process". i have both by a fluke birthday gift mistake from my wife and mother but if i were going to buy one now i would get the lyman just because for the $70 savings i can live with a small wait (takes that long for me to get everything else set up anyway).
