I'm not a gun expert, and have always had trouble cleaning my guns properly. I'm never quite sure if I'm doing them right or damaging them in any way.

I only own semi-autos and revolvers. No long guns.

Is there a modern video that goes over the gun cleaning procedure with modern products like either FP-10 or Breakfree? I'm not looking for any "classics" that use Hoppes #9 or the like.

I want simple and effective. VHS, DVD, DivX, doesn't matter.

Any recommendations?

Does anyone know if there is one good universal solvent that can be used to get rid of lead, copper, powder in barrels and is okay for blued, nickel or SS guns?

I ordered some Mpro-7, but don't know if it will do the trick.

Valnar, I've started(9 mos. ago) useing Blue Wonder Cleaner, & can tell you unreservedly that when used following directions, will remove junk you thought was super-clean. You can get more info at: novumsolutions.com(I think?) In any regard, more & more suppliers are handling this-Midway, Brownells etc.
I cheat, & just load up the bore & then let it SIT for an hour, scrub the bore(2 or 3 pushes) & let it SIT etc.-why work when the product willJMHO..........Wayne:cool:

Nickel : use caution with solvents with ammonia. Nickel is often over a base of copper. Copper solvents have ammonia--even if one thinks all the residue is gone-its not. peeling, cracking.
Rule : no ammonia, copper solvent around in or on nickel.

Another Rule: Do not get caught up with the solvent/lube this that and the other stuff. You can read, argue, until the cows comes home.

On nickel I use zippo lighter fluid, others use mineral spirits. There is no Holy Grail on anything for any purpose. Keep it simple and use the money to buy ammo.

FWIW I have used the Kleanbore Formula 3 since it hit the market. I have some of the original OTIS stuff. And Hoppe's No 9 is a great cleaner and the orange bottle of oil is fine. I have the oil from when it was in a tin can.

Be careful Of the yellow label # 9 on nickel.
