I am considering buying a Colt .22, I am not sure of the model or designation, but it is about 30 years old and it has Stag handle grips with the golden Colt medallion in them.

Do these particular grips enhance the value of the piece to any great extent ?

Another .22 Colt of the same design has the black "rubber" grips and also has a magnum cylinder to go with it.

Both guns are the same price.

Which would be the better buy, given that they both perform well and are in the same general condition?

I have a Colt New Frontier .22 single action revolver.
If I was doing it again I might buy a single action with a .22 Magnum cylinder instead. If they were the same price I think I'd buy the gun with the .22 Magnum cylinder just for the versatility.

The later Colt .22 single actions had steel receivers with real color case hardening, and seemed to be very nice quality, so I'd go with it.

The earlier Colt had plastic "Stag" grips, that add nothing to the value.
