Best Gun Movie this year?
twoblink

Well, got into a discussion about Charlie's Angels Full Throttle and the anticipation of it as well as expectations.
As far as guns, I expect to see a lot (Demi + gold Desert Eagles for starters)
But I was wondering what do you all think was the best gun movie thus far this year? Do you think Charlie's Angels will top that? I didn't think Matrix really did all that much as far as gunplay this time around.. The hotel lobby scene from the first one was definitely better..
As far as the Angels are concerned; I expect:
0 plot
A lot of skimpy outfits
A lot of stunts
A lot of things blowing up
Some John Woo slow-mo action
And again, 0 plot.

charlie's Angels 2?
:barf: :barf: :barf:
you must be joking.
The first one was the worst movie ever. Since sequels are usually much worse than originals, I would not be surprised if the release of this movie causes the destruction of the universe.
:uhoh:
But, to answer your question - I have no idea. Matrix Reloaded was more of a gun-fetish movie, than a 'gun movie'. I don't really know what else is supposed to be coming out this year

I'd rate Charlie's Angels as a treetop flyer with Battlefield Earth.

I'll wait for The Matrix: Revolutions in November before I vote. I don't think it's going to be Charlie's Angels 2 though. Two Desert Eagles does not make gun flick. :p
Too bad SWAT looks like it is going to be terrible. :barf:

I can't believe the year is half over. I'm hoping John Woo makes a western some time with Chow Yun Fat. Kind of like Shanghai Noon but everyone dies.

You guys are nuts right????
"charlie's angels"....come one, bet all of you are too busy looking at the girls to even notice the guns. Because I know you aren't going to that movie for the Academy Award winning acting.
For me so far the best one has been "Tears of the Sun" Like to see someone dispute that.

Equilibrium was a 2002 movie. Unless you count the DVD release. ;)

I refuse to see charlie's angels 2, even though I have a crush on Lucy Liu AND Drew Barrymore BECAUSE it has desert eagles in it.
I hate desert eagles and all they stand for.

Probably thus far, Tears of the Sun gets my vote. (Bruce, the only real man left in Hollyweird).
Desert Eagles, or how to carry an extra 3lbs and make ccw an impossibility. :D
I forgot about T3! (How did I miss that??)
Hulk should have some good military equipment if it follows the traditional storyline.

Equilibrium wasn't in theaters here, so for me, the DVD release is the opening.
Hey, this reminds me. I know a lot of you liked Boondock Saints. I can't find it at the rental place, but Best Buy has it on DVD for ten bucks. Is it worth it?

Well I too need to keep up with this thread for suggestions...I'm so far behind on movies. I just recently watched The Recruit . Promo for Tears of the Sun peaked my interest.

My vote goes for "Tears of the Sun" too. Excellent movie. All in all its been a sad year for gun movies so far. "Bad Boys II" might turn it around though.

I hear Boondock Saints is coming out with Boondock Saints II !! :D
Well worth the money, if only for Wilhelm Defoe.
"So we have a fat man theory"..
"Rope!!"
Where's Cslinger, to chime in on Boondock?

Tears of the sun was pretty good. I liked phone booth, but it didn't have that many guns.
Andrew-how come you don't like desert eagles?
Wilhelm

Defoe is NOT in Boondock Saints II.

The two best lines in Phoneboof:
"He got a Glock! He got a Glock!"
"You ever wonder why in the movies, before the good guy kills the bad guy, he cocks the gun? Why didn't he cock it before? Because it sounds scary."

Not "Die Another Day." - new on DVD for 2003 anyway. Bond flicks a revolver cylinder closed in ignorance (a practice recently discussed in the revolver postings).
And of course, what is what that P99? Walther paid of course, but there are a lot of weapons for CCW that would be better for Bond. The P99 is a bit large, and it is not pretty.
And besides, it was a bad movie. Cubby where are thee - six feet under but spinning.
I haven't seen a real shootem up "spare's no bullets" movie since "The Replacement Killers" and the other Fat cop movie with Marky Mark, that I can't recall the title of.

I think I'm gonna need a bagal with that coffee too.
Great movie. Did anybody watch the outtakes on the DVD.
"I don't care who I have to ............. but I am getting out of the porn business!!!"
Also in the outtakes the boys talking to their mom who is threatening to kill herself. Great stuff I tell ya.
Thanks for informing me about the thread twoblink.
This movie is great fun. Deep on many levels but just as fun to watch just for shiggles.
"Charlie Bronson always had rope!!!!!" Great stuff.:D
I liked Equilibrium very much.
This year was kind of weak for real gun nut movies.
As for Charlie's Angels...........................

Another vote for "Equilibruim" with Christian Bale and Emily Watson. :D Though Tsui Hark's movie isn't a recent film -- a lot of people overlooked it. Give "Time and Tide" your four bucks when you see it at Blockbuster. You might have to ask for the clerk -- don't know if it'd be in action or Foreign Film section...but worth a viewing. It's on my list of DVDs to purchase.:D :D :D :D

Don - regarding Boondock Saints
not good. I didn't spend money on it, but I wish I could have that 2 hours of my life back, in order to spend it on something more constructive, like sleeping.

Charlie's Angels:barf:
Lucy Liu:D is the only reason I sat through the first one, and would be the only redeeming factor in the 2nd one.
Tears of the Sun gets my vote.

I loved the Boondock Saints and thought it was an amazing movie. Well worth the 10 bucks on Best Buy.
For this year, I can't say yet.

Tears of the Sun was a MORAL movie not a gun Movie.
300 bad guys 15 feet away all blazing from the hip with AKs. It got retarded there at the end.
However for Monica Belluci - It's worth every penny to buy the DVD. WOW!

June 12, 2003, 11:29 PM
Monica's character annoyed the heck out of me. They should have left her there to die IMHO.
My gf throughout the movie was like "She wants to save these people? She needs to pick up a gun and start shootin'!"
Bulletproof monk proved to be a disappointment...

Charlie's Angels/Angels 2 isn't even a movie.
It's just a bushel basked of crap thrown at a screen!
