When someone states they are shooting 1 MOA at say 50 meters what does it mean?

"One minute of angle"
At 50 yards, it's 1/2".
At 100 yards, it's 1".
Your 3 or 5 or whatever shot group would all fit in a X" circle.

BTW 1 MOA is applicable only to opticals? Or can you shoot 1 MOA with iron?

MOA is just a measurement based on simple trig. You can shoot 1 MOA with a blowgun if you practice enough, I reckon.
