Some Kahr MK9 Questions

Okay gang I traded my P9 for an MK9. I was going to get the k9 but the shop didnt have one in stock. My P9 had a warped frame and I just couldnt bring myself to trust it with the warp. So I grab the little MK9.
Here are my questions:
1. Has anyone used the pierce grip pinky extension? Looks like it will work great.
2. Who makes good after market grips for this guns? The stock plastic is okay until my hands get schweaty and then they SUCK.
Thanks
ps. the store threw in a couple of boxes of Triton Hi Vel 125gr+p ammo. Whoa there is a screaming round.

In my opinion, the pinky extension is essential. It will also help you keep a solid hold on the thing; you might not need new grips.

Pinky extensions are fine if you use them ALL the time. If only some of the mags will have them they are more of a distraction then a help. The MK is FULLY controlable without them, even with +p rounds. The only replacements I've seen are wood which would not be any better. Best bet would be Agrip from www.brookstactical.com

Americans! . . . always wanting to make big guns small and small guns big. The stock MK9, especially the older ones with the slightly larger Hogue grips, are just fine, and you do not need the grip extender as the pinky naturaly extends underneath the magazine.
It is a little gun, albeit heavy - but why make it bigger? - just get a K9 then.
To improve the grip on a MK9 you could get one of those rubber sleeves, but again, why? This sort of makes the grip a lot thicker.
I think the little MK9, even though, sort of heavy, is just about perfect the way it is. 9X19 in a .380 package, without the bugs of the PM9.
Sweet.

I agree with bad dad brad, I have a friend with a glock 26, he puts the pierce extension on one mag. "I'll use the extended mag for practice", he tells me. "So you're gonna carry it without the extension and never practice that way?, says me. He gives me this stupid look.
Anyway, ya buy a gun because it is small and set to work making it bigger. Like bad dad said, just buy the bigger gun to start with.
My mk9 and glock 26 shoot great with no extensions, try it guys, it works....tom

I put about 500 rounds through my MK9.
I left it stock.
I found it very shootable as it came out of the box.
It is a heavy gun, which helps with the control a lot.
I agree about the pinky extension.
It makes the gun look cool, (very James-Bond-Walther-looking) and feel neat, but isn't really needed.
I didn't want to get one unless I put it on my spare mag also.
Probably wouldn't have made a difference.
But, I felt it would make the gun as big as a K9.
I guess it is a personal preference thing.

I have the grip extension on both of my 6rd mags!! It works fine. Now, the MK9 7rd mags already have the pinky extension already installed. As for the grips, the plastic ones are just fine. However, I installed a Hogue Handall Jr. It has finger groves and works great!! Cheaper than the Brooks Tactical product too!!! ;)
If you MUST have wood grips, they sell them at the Kahr Shop at KAHR WEB SITE (http://www.kahr.com) . Be advised that they are a bit pricy!! ;)
The MK9 was designed around the 9mm +P+ round, loaded to 1300 fps!!

No extensions found on my MK40. None needed. I can only imagine the same holds true for the MK9.

On Kahr's website www.kahr.com they have some checkered wood grips. This may be better for you than the plastic. I have an MK40 and have been thinking about the wood grips just to dress it up a bit. The checkering should make it easier to hold onto. Somone on TFL had had lines egraved on the front of the grip. That probably cost a few $$. Here is the accessory list. They have some rubber wrap-arounds too.

Hogue makes rubber grips for it, I believe, with the pebble grain. They are awesome. I have them on my S&W and also have the pinky extended. A word of caution, be careful when putting a new mag in with the pinky extension, it pinches, you :cuss: and everyone looks at you like you're a demon.
