Does anyone else think that the Kershaw Chive makes an awesome gift?

-Quality blade for reasonable price ($20ish)
-Great for gals: it's cute and convenient
-Great for guys: it's slick and gadgety
-Compact
-Can be opened by hand when amongst the easily scared
-Can be opened "automatically" for convenience or fun
-Technically not a switchblade in almost all states

I've got an embarassingly large number of knives, but if I were to trim down to just six or so, the Kershave Chive would be one of the keepers. I suppose the others might include a Benchmade Axis of some model, the Douk-Douk on my keychain, and an Opinel as a beater.

Anyone else use the Chives as gifts?

They're more like $70 this side of the pond, so not unless I really like you! :p

It's not just you, they're awesome little things. The gizmo factor is high, too. I gave my dad one for his birthday last year.

Actually, this year I gave him one of the Douk-Douks, so there you go. Great minds think alike.

I love mine. They're not intimidating and go well with more formal attire when a "tacticool" (or even a plain Buck lockback) would make others squeamish. That said, a mini-multitool or SAK tends to fill that role better. A Chive really is a novelty, but a well priced and well built one, well worth owning or giving (if not necessarily carrying).

A Chive is with me in daily carry every day.

I keep it clipped to the inside of my cell-phone belt holster, and what little of it you can see blends in perfectly with the silver plastic of the phone. It's my little PC "gentleman's knife" that comes out when I don’t feel like unfolding my Leatherman, or I'm amongst the sheep.

I wind up using it on some small wrapping, package, tape, or a box about every other day.
