Champion muzzle bushing

I got meself a used one as a kick around, it had some pretty decent work on it, but the previous owner sold it because he was having some feeding problems. Interestingly it works completely fine for me. Anyways, in his figdeting with the piece, he somehow wanged the bushing (this is the older style), and while he replaced it, it is pretty loose and the barrel angles down a bit (throwing rounds about 6 inches low at 7 yards). I have thought about getting the EGW bushing, (which interestingly, does not seem to be in the catalog on their website). Am I right in thinking that I can take a standard bushing and cut it down to Champion length?

EGW has them. Their website can be confusing about their bushings. Call and ask. Brownells has Commander style bushings and Midway probably does also. Ne need to try to cut one and I believe there are other slight differences in the bushings besides length as well.

It's supposed to angle down at the front, because when it's in battery, it tilts up at the rear into the slide.

Walkalong, the Champion bushing looks like a commander bushing cut to Officer's ACP length, so unless there is a specific Champion bushing (which there are, just do not know if EGW actually sells one), one would need to cut down a Commander bushing. What I meant by standard bushing is gov't or commander length.

Tuner, the new bushing is a slop fit, and tilts in the slide so that there is a slight gap at the top, and thus angles it down some. Though I know some Springers shoot unusually low (or mayabe they are made with high front sights so you have room to file), the previous owner did not report any POI issues, and I think he was so busy with his jams that he did not notice the low shots after the bushing replacement. If you push back on the bushing, you can get it to flush fit back against the front of the slide, and the muzzle tilts up some. I guess I could try that when I am shooting and see if that corrects the elevations. :)

I suppose I should see if the bushing track in the slide is buggered by whatever the previous owner did to hurt the original bushing (something like he torqued it the wrong direction or somesuch) as well to see if that is why the fit is so loose.

ktd...If the barrel is a close fit to the bushing and loose in the slide...when the barrel tilts up at the rear into battery, it will cause the bushing to angle down with the attendant gap at the top. While a better bushing to slide fit will help some with the low POI, it probably won't take cover all or even much of it.
