if the bolt won't go into battery the spring may be defective or the rifle may need to be stripped down and given a good cleaning. The trigger guard SHOULD snap solidly into place and not coming loose. You don't mention if the rifle is new or used
but if I were you I'd contact Ruger directly and send it back fo repairs.

the gas nozzle is very dirty preventing the bolt from closing. the trigger guard popping open I never heard of. maybe someone altered the catch(which opens the whole gun)

i just bought it at a gun show on saturday. i have taken it all apart and cleaned it throughly. it was clean to begin with. it seems that the screws that screw through the stock and hold the metal plates in side the stock are touching the locking lever thats connected to the trigger gaurd. so i am not sure if those two screws should be touching or not. the other issue i read that maybe one of the trigger assembly parts is rubbing on the underside of the bolt. because one is concave and the other is convex. it seems that they should work together, but i dont know the clearence amount
