Hello all,
Just acquired a sweet 686 (no dash) 6" in great shape for a great price. Per the markings it is a Non-Dash 686 without the recall mods (no M stamped above model #) Do I send it in? It is my understanding the recall was due to some cylinder binding. I've shot it and shoots great with full house .357 mag loads. Is it worth the trouble to send it in? What can I expect turnaround to be if I do send it in? Thanks all.

Well it's been quite a few years ago now but my brother and I both sent in, our then new 686's, it didn't take that long to get them back. Never had a problem with either one, before or since.

oh, I would make sure they are not going to do something stupid like put a lock on it, first.

If the recall does not involve a safety issue, use your own judgement.

If safety were involved, failure to respond to the recall could leave you exposed to a lawsuit if the gun failed and injured someone else.
