I have what I believe is a Stevens 335 in 16ga. However, old Stevens are confusing to me. It has 28" bbls, a very vivid case colored receiver marked on left side STEVENS w/an engraved bird over grass. flipping to the rt. side it is marked J. STEVENS ARMS COMPANY(over)CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A.(over)---PATENTED APRIL 20, 1915---. The only marking on the bbls. is on the left "16 GAUGE". The bbl. flat is marked with serial no. H234xx as is the water table, the hand guard and metal lock. The stock is checkered(poorly) on both the hand guard and the stock. The butt plate is done in a "S" design with the word STEVENS within the "S". All right experts, what do I have and when was it born? Unfortunately, I don't have a digital camera. Thank you.
